  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Drain the top half of the engine coolant into a suitable drain pan.
  2.
  3. Remove the air inlet duct.
  4.
  5. For 3.8L engines, remove the rear intake duct and remove the throttle cable bracket.
  6.

The TPS and IAC valve should NOT come into contact with solvent or cleaner, as they may be damaged.

  1. Detach the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve and Throttle Position (TP) sensor electrical connectors.
  2.
  3. Tag and disconnect all necessary vacuum lines from the top of the throttle body.
  4.
  5. Disconnect the coolant hoses from the throttle body.
  6.
  7. Remove the throttle, T.V. and cruise control cables.
  8.
  9. Remove the throttle body, gasket and coolant line O-rings. Discard the O-rings and gasket, then thoroughly clean the gasket mating surfaces.
  10.

To install:
  1. Position a new flange gasket, then place the throttle body on top. Install the retaining bolts and tighten to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm) for 2.8L and 3.1L engines. For 3.8L engines, tighten the retaining nuts to 11 ft. lbs. (15 Nm).
  2.
  3. For 3.8L engines, install the throttle cable bracket.
  4.

Make sure the throttle and cruise control linkage does not hold the throttle open.

  1. Connect the throttle, cruise control and transmission control cables to the throttle body.
  2.
  3. Attach the coolant hoses to the throttle body.
  4.
  5. Connect the vacuum hoses to the top of the throttle body.
  6.
  7. Attach the electrical connectors to the IAC valve and TPS.
  8.
  9. Install the air intake duct or rear duct, as applicable.
