    REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

The wiper switch is controlled by the multi-function turn signal lever but the actual switch is located in the steering column.

    WARNING
On vehicles with air bags, disable the SIR system. The vehicles wheels must be in the straight ahead position and the key must be in the LOCK position when removing or installing the steering column. Failure to do so may cause the SIR coil assembly to become uncentered and may result in otherwise unneeded SIR repairs.

    1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
    2.
    3. If equipped, properly disable the SIR system, as outlined in Chassis Electrical of this repair guide.
    4.
    5. Remove the steering wheel, as outlined earlier in this information.
    6.
    7. Remove the turn signal canceling cam assembly.
    8.
    9. Remove the hazard knob and position the turn signal lever so the housing cover screw can be removed through the opening in the switch. Remove the housing cover.
    10.
    11. Remove the wire protector from the opening in the instrument panel bracket and separate the wires.
    12.
    13. Detach the pivot and pulse switch connector. Remove the pivot switch connector and pivot switch.
    14.

    To install:
    1. Install the pivot and pulse switch assembly. Install the wiring protector around the instrument panel opening, covering all wires.
    2.
    3. Install the steering column housing cover and tighten the screws to 35 inch lbs. (4 Nm).
    4.
    5. Install the hazard knob and lubricate the bottom side of the canceling cam with lithium grease.
    6.
    7. Install the steering wheel, as outlined earlier in this information.
    8.
    9. Connect the negative battery cable.
    10.
    11. If equipped, properly enable the SIR system, as outlined in Chassis Electrical of this repair guide.
    12.
    13. Check steering column operations.
    14.
