Throttle Body

Removal & Installation

  1. Drain and recycle the engine coolant.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the air intake tube from the throttle body.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect and remove the throttle cable, and any other cables, from the throttle body. Remove the throttle cable bracket.
  6.  
  7. Unplug the Idle Air Control (IAC), Idle Air Temperature (IAT), Throttle Position Sensor (TPS), and Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor electrical connectors.
  8.  
  9. Remove the three nuts retaining the throttle body support to the intake and the throttle body; remove the throttle body support.
  10.  
  11. Remove the two nuts and the stud holding the throttle body to the intake manifold.
  12.  
  13. Remove the throttle body assembly.

To install:
  1. Thoroughly clean the gasket surface on the intake manifold and the throttle body.
  2.  
  3. Install a new gasket, if necessary.
  4.  
  5. Install the throttle body assembly, the stud, and the two retaining nuts.
  6.  
  7. Tighten the retaining nuts and the stud to 11 ft. lbs. (15 Nm).
  8.  
  9. Install the throttle body support and retaining nuts and tighten to 11 ft. lbs. (15 Nm).
  10.  
  11. Install the throttle cable bracket, and the throttle and other cables.
  12.  


CAUTION
Make sure the throttle linkage does not hold the throttle open.

  1. Install the IAC, IAT, TP, and MAF sensor electrical connectors.
  2.  
  3. Reconnect the air intake tube.
  4.  
  5. Refill the radiator.
  6.
