REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Disconnect and cap the power steering pump hoses.
- Remove the accessory drive belt.
- Remove the power steering pump pulley using a suitable puller tool.
- Remove the pump mounting bolts and remove the pump from the vehicle.

- Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure. Tighten the pump mounting bolts to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
- Bleed the power steering system to remove trapped air. Air in the system could cause noise and or damage to the pump.
This procedure requires the help of an assistant.
- With the engine OFF, the wheels off the ground and turned all the way to the left, fill the fluid reservoir to the FULL COLD mark on the fluid level indicator.
- With an assistant checking the fluid level and condition, bleed the system by turning the wheels from side to side without hitting the stops. You should repeat this at least 20 times, making sure to keep the fluid level at the FULL COLD mark.
Fluid with air in it has a light tan appearance. This air must be eliminated from the fluid before normal steering action can be obtained.

- Start the engine, and while it is idling, recheck the fluid level and add as necessary to reach the FULL COLD mark.
- Return the wheels to the center position. Lower the front wheels to the ground and continue running the engine for 2 or 3 minutes.
- Road test the vehicle to make sure the steering functions properly and is free of noises.
