Refrigerant Lines

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Discharge the air conditioning system.
  4.  
  5. Remove the radiator grille if removing front refrigerant lines.
  6.  
  7. Loosen the connector at the compressor and attaching points. Use a backup wrench on pipes with flare nut fittings.
  8.  
  9. Remove the pipe retaining clips.
  10.  
  11. Remove the pipe from the vehicle.
  12.  

To install:
  1. Install new replacement O-rings whenever a joint or fitting is disconnected. Lubricate pipe threads with refrigerant oil and install. Torque the 3 / 8 in. O.D. pipes to 11-18 ft. lbs. (15-25 Nm), 1 / 2 in. O.D. pipes to 15-22 ft. lbs. (20-30 Nm) and 5 / 8 in. O.D. pipes to 22-29 ft. lbs. (30-40 Nm).

  3. Install the pipe retaining clips.
  4.  
  5. Install the radiator grille if removing front refrigerant lines.
  6.  
  7. Install the radiator grille if removed.
  8.  
  9. Connect the negative battery cable.
  10.
