Throttle Position Sensor

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the air cleaner assembly, as required.
  4.  
  5. Remove the throttle position sensor connector.
  6.  
  7. Remove the retaining screws, then remove the throttle position sensor from the throttle body.
  8.  

To install:
  1. Install the throttle position sensor on the throttle body.
  2.  
  3. Adjust the throttle position sensor.
  4.  
  5. Tighten screws to 18 inch lbs. (2 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Connect the sensor connector.
  8.  
  9. Install the air cleaner
  10.  
  11. Connect the negative battery cable.
  12.  

ADJUSTMENT

  1. Connect a digital multimeter to the throttle position sensor terminals IDL and E2. Measure resistance.
  2.  
  3. Insert a 0.024 in. (0.6mm) feeler gauge between throttle stop screw and throttle lever.
  4.  
  5. With retaining screws loosely installed, turn throttle position sensor fully clockwise, then slowly counterclockwise until digital multimeter indicates 0 ohms (continuity).
  6.  
  7. Tighten screws to 18 inch lbs. (2 Nm).
  8.  
  9. Insert a 0.031 in. (0.8mm) feeler gauge between throttle stop screw and throttle lever. Digital multimeter should now indicate an open circuit (no continuity).
  10.  
  11. Insert a 0.016 in. (0.4mm) feeler gauge between throttle stop screw and throttle lever. Digital multimeter should now indicate O ohms (continuity).
