Air Conditioning Coolant Temperature Switch

An engine coolant temperature switch is used to shut down air conditioning system when engine coolant reaches 226°F (108°C). Compressor operation will not be initiated until coolant temperature drops below the specified range. The switch is located on the left side of the throttle body below the air cleaner assembly.

REMOVAL and INSTALLATION

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Drain the cooling system below the level of the thermostat housing.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the air conditioning coolant temperature switch electrical connector.
  6.  
  7. Remove the switch from the thermostat housing.
  8.  

To install:
  1. Coat the thermostat switch with sealant and install in the thermostat housing.
  2.  
  3. Connect the air conditioning coolant temperature switch electrical connector.
  4.  
  5. Fill the cooling system.
  6.  
  7. Connect the negative battery cable.
  8.
