REMOVAL and INSTALLATION

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Raise and support the vehicle safely.
  4.  
  5. Remove the transaxle from the vehicle.
  6.  
  7. On manual transaxle equipped models, remove the pressure plate assembly and clutch disc.
  8.  
  9. Mark the flywheel-to-engine position.
  10.  
  11. Remove the flywheel retaining bolts and flywheel from the crankshaft.
  12.  
  13. Remove the rear main seal attaching bolts.
  14.  

It may be necessary to loosen the oil pan bolts to allow clearance for rear main seal removal.

  1. Remove the rear main seal.
  2.  

To install:
  1. Lubricate and install the rear main seal.
  2.  
  3. Apply Loctite® sealant, or equivalent, to the flywheel retaining bolt threads.
  4.  
  5. Install the flywheel and secure with retaining bolts. Tighten bolts to 41-47 ft. lbs.. (56-64 Nm).
  6.  
  7. On manual transaxle equipped vehicles, install the pressure plate and clutch disc.
  8.  
  9. Install the transaxle.
  10.
