Fig. Fig. 1: Throttle body and intake manifold

Do not remove the fuel pressure regulator or air valve from the throttle body. They are calibrated at the factory and are not serviceable.

  1. Relieve the fuel system pressure and disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.
  3. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
  4.
  5. Drain the cooling system.
  6.

CAUTION
When draining the coolant, keep in mind that cats and dogs are attracted by the ethylene glycol antifreeze, and are quite likely to drink any that is left in an uncovered container or in puddles on the ground. This will prove fatal in sufficient quantity. Always drain the coolant into a sealable container. Coolant should be reused unless it is contaminated or several years old.

  1. Label and disconnect the throttle position sensor, fuel injector and coolant temperature electrical connectors.
  2.
  3. Label and disconnect the fuel feed and return hoses, coolant hoses and all vacuum hoses.
  4.
  5. Remove the accelerator cable.
  6.
  7. Remove the throttle body attaching bolts.
  8.
  9. Lift the throttle body from the intake manifold.
  10.

To install:
  1. Install the throttle body on the intake manifold using a new gasket.
  2.
  3. Tighten throttle body bolts evenly to 17 ft. lbs. (23 Nm).
  4.
  5. Remove the accelerator cable.
  6.
  7. Connect the fuel feed and return hoses, coolant hoses and all vacuum hoses.
  8.
  9. Connect the throttle position sensor, fuel injector and coolant temperature electrical connectors.
  10.
  11. Refill the cooling system.
  12.
  13. Install the air cleaner assembly.
  14.
  15. Connect the negative battery cable. Start the engine and check for leaks.
  16.

Fig. Fig. 2: Throttle body injector assembly

Do not remove the fuel pressure regulator or air valve from the throttle body. They are calibrated at the factory and are not serviceable.

  1. Depressurize the fuel system, then disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.
  3. Remove the intake air hose and air cleaner.
  4.
  5. Remove the injector cover and upper insulator.
  6.
  7. Gently pull the injector out of the throttle body.
  8.

To install:
  1. Replace both injector O-rings with new.
  2.
  3. Apply a thin coat of automatic transmission fluid to the O-rings and then install the injector into the throttle body. Make sure the injector is facing the proper direction.
  4.

Do not twist the injector while installing as damage or misalignment of the O-rings may occur.

  1. Install the upper insulator, cover, electrical connector and connect the negative battery cable.
  2.
  3. With the ignition switch ON and the engine OFF, check for fuel leaks.
  4.
  5. Install the air cleaner and inlet hose.
  6.
