Windshield Wiper Motor

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



Front
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wiper motor electrical connectors.
  2.  
  3. Remove the wiper motor retaining bolts and pull motor away from firewall.
  4.  
  5. On sprint, remove crank arm nut and crank arm. On Metro, gently pry wiper linkage from crank arm.
  6.  
  7. Remove the wiper motor from the vehicle.
  8.  

To install:
  1. Connect wiper linkage to wiper motor. On Sprint, tighten wiper crank arm nut to 96 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Install the wiper motor to the vehicle. Tighten bolts to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Connect wiper motor electrical connectors, then negative battery cable.
  6.  

Rear
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the speakers from the hatchback door inner trim panel, if so equipped.
  4.  
  5. Remove the retaining clips and hatchback door inner trim panel from the vehicle.
  6.  
  7. Remove the wiper motor electrical connector and wiper motor ground screw.
  8.  
  9. Remove the wiper motor mounting screws and lower the wiper motor assembly.
  10.  
  11. On Sprint, remove the wiper cranking arm retaining nut from the wiper motor shaft. On Metro, pry the wiper linkage from the cranking arm.
  12.  
  13. Remove the rear wiper motor.
  14.  

To install:
  1. Connect wiper linkage to wiper motor. On Sprint, tighten wiper crank arm nut to 96 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Install the wiper motor to the vehicle. Tighten bolts to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install the wiper motor electrical connector and wiper motor ground screw.
  6.  
  7. Install the retaining clips and hatchback door inner trim panel.
  8.  
  9. Install the speakers in the hatchback door inner trim panel, if so equipped.
  10.  
  11. Connect the negative battery cable.
  12.
