GM Prizm/Nova 1985-1993 Repair Guide

Body Lubrication

There is no set period recommended for body lubrication; however, it is a good idea to lubricate the following body points at least once a year with the recommended lubricant, especially in the fall before cold weather:

Key lock cylinders - multi-purpose lubricant GM 12345120 or equivalent, or synthetic SAE 5W-30 engine oil.
Weather-strips - silicone dielectric grease GM 12345579 or equivalent.
Hood latch and pivot points - engine oil.
Hatchback, hood and door hinges - engine oil.

After lubricating a body part, be sure that all the excess lubricant has been wiped off, especially in any area of the car which may come in contact with clothing.
