    Heater Control Panel (Unit)

    REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



    1985-92

    See Figures 1 and 2

    1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
    2.  
    3. Remove the steering wheel.
    4.  
    5. Remove the 2 screws holding the hood release lever assembly.
    6.  
    7. Remove the 4 screws holding the left lower dashboard panel.
    8.  
    9. Remove the upper and lower steering column covers.
    10.  
    11. Use a small screwdriver or similar tool to gently pry the switches from the lower dash trim panel. Disconnect the wiring and remove the switches.

    1. Remove the 2 screws under the panel and pull out the center cluster finish panel. It is also secured by spring clips behind the dash - pull straight out away from the dash so as not to break the plastic.

    3. Remove the 4 screws holding the heater control panel and slide the panel out of the dash.

    To install:
    1. When reinstalling, place the control panel in the dash, make sure it is straight and install the 4 retaining screws.
    2.  
    3. Place the finish panel in place and push it into the dash so that each spring clip engages. Install the 2 lower screws.
    4.  
    5. Connect the wiring to the switches and press the switches firmly into place.
    6.  
    7. Install the upper and lower steering wheel covers.
    8.  
    9. Install the lower left dash cover and its 4 screws.
    10.  
    11. Install the hood release lever assembly.
    12.  
    13. Install the steering wheel.
    14.  
    15. Connect the negative battery cable.

    1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
    2.  
    3. Pull the center trim bezel from the instrument panel, disconnecting the cigar lighter and ashtray bulb socket.
    4.  
    5. Remove the 3 screws and pull the heater control unit from the instrument panel.
    6.  

    To install:
    1. Install the heater control unit to the instrument panel.
    2.  
    3. Press the center trim bezel to the instrument panel and connect the cigar lighter and ashtray bulb socket.
    4.  
    5. Connect the negative battery cable.
    6.
