Ignition Control Module

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Raise the vehicle and support it with jackstands.
  4.  
  5. Remove the passenger side tire and wheel assembly.
  6.  
  7. Lift up the rubber flap on the wheel well to access the module/coil assembly.
  8.  
  9. Unplug the module electrical connectors.
  10.  
  11. Tag and disconnect the spark plug wiring from the coils.
  12.  
  13. Remove the 3 ignition module/coil assembly-to-block retaining bolts, then remove the assembly from the engine.
  14.  
  15. Remove the coils from the ignition module, then separate the module from the assembly plate bracket.
  16.  

To install:
  1. Install the module to the assembly plate bracket, then install the ignition coils.
  2.  
  3. Install the module/coil assembly to the engine block and tighten the retaining bolts to 15-22 ft. lbs. (20-30 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Connect the spark plug cables to the proper coil towers, as noted during removal.
  6.  
  7. Attach the module electrical connectors.
  8.  
  9. Place the rubber flap back in position and lower the vehicle.
  10.  
  11. Connect the negative battery cable.
  12.
