Diesel Engine Fuel System

SLOW IDLE SPEED ADJUSTMENT



See Figures 1 and 2

  1. Set parking brake and block drive wheels.
  2.  
  3. Place transmission in Neutral.
  4.  
  5. Start and warm up the engine. The engine coolant temperature should be above 176°F (80°C).
  6.  
  7. Connect a diesel tachometer according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  8.  
  9. If the idle speed deviates from the specified range of 700-800 rpm, loosen the idle speed adjusting screw locknut.
  10.  
  11. Turn the adjusting screw in or out until the idle speed is in the correct range. After tightening the locknut, lock it in place.

FAST IDLE SPEED ADJUSTMENT



See Figure 3

  1. Start and warm up the engine. The engine coolant temperature should be above 176°F (80°).
  2.  
  3. Connect a diesel tachometer according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the hoses from the vacuum switch valve, then connect a pipe (4mm dia.) in position between the hoses.
  6.

  1. Loosen adjusting nut and adjust engine idle speed by moving the nut. Fast idle should be 900-950 rpm.

  3. Tighten the locknut.
  4.  
  5. Remove engine tachometer.
