The following flow charts may be used to diagnose the causes of various trouble codes which may be recorded by the ECM or to verify proper operation of systems.

Although many of the following tests may be conducted using a Digital Volt/Ohm Meter (DVOM), certain steps or procedures may require use of the Tech1® scan tool (a specialized GM tester) or an equivalent scan/testing tool. If these testers are not available, the vehicle should be taken to a reputable service station which has the appropriate equipment.
