Throttle Position Sensor

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Unplug the sensor electrical connector.
  4.  
  5. Remove the sensor attaching screws and lock washers or retainers.
  6.  
  7. Remove the sensor from the carburetor or throttle body.
  8.  

To install:
  1. With the throttle valve in the normal closed idle position, install the sensor to the carburetor or throttle body.
  2.  
  3. Install the screws and retainers or lock washers and tighten to 18 inch lbs (2 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install the wiring harness connector to the sensor, then connect the negative battery cable.
  6.  
  7. Check and adjust the sensor as necessary, using a voltmeter (carbureted vehicles) or a scan tool (fuel injected vehicles). Refer to the adjustment procedures in Fuel System of this repair guide or to the diagnostic charts later in this section.
