Front Exhaust Pipe (Converter Inlet Pipe)

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



  1. Raise and support the vehicle safely.
  2.  
  3. Remove the bolts and disconnect the pipe from the front of the catalytic converter.
  4.  
  5. On the Storm, remove the center mounting bracket bolt.
  6.  
  7. On the Spectrum, disconnect the engine-to-pipe bracket.
  8.  
  9. Remove the fasteners and separate the pipe from the exhaust manifold.
  10.  
  11. Release any remaining rubber hangers and remove the pipe from the vehicle.
  12.  

To install:
  1. Position the pipe to the vehicle and connect any rubber hangers.
  2.  
  3. Connect the pipe to the exhaust manifold, using a new gasket. Loosely install the retainers.
  4.  
  5. Loosely install the center mounting bracket bolt or the engine-to-pipe bracket.
  6.  
  7. Connect the pipe to the catalytic converter and loosely install the bolts.
  8.  
  9. Make sure the exhaust system is properly routed and tighten all the fasteners. Tighten the exhaust manifold fasteners to 42 ft. lbs. (57 Nm) for the Spectrum or to 46 ft. lbs. (62 Nm) for the Storm. Tighten the catalytic converter bolts to 20 ft. lbs. (28 Nm) for the Spectrum or to 32 ft. lbs. (43 Nm) for the Storm.
  10.  
  11. Remove the supports and lower the vehicle.
  12.  
  13. Start the engine and check for leaks.
