FLUID RECOMMENDATIONS

GM power steering fluid specification No. 9985010, No. 1050017 or equivalent must be used. Failure to use a fluid which meets these specifications may cause damage and fluid leaks.

LEVEL CHECK

See Figures 1, 2 and 3

The power steering pump reservoir is translucent so the level may be checked without removing the cap. The level is best checked after the vehicle has been driven a short distance with the engine at normal operating temperature. The warmed level should be between the MIN and MAX lines on the side of the reservoir. If fluid must be added, always clean the cap and surrounding area before removing the cap in order to prevent system contamination.
