Heater Core

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



Spectrum
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the heater hose at the engine compartment.
  4.  
  5. Remove the six clips holding the lower part of the heater unit case, then remove the lower part of the case.
  6.  
  7. Carefully pry open the lower part of the case.
  8.  
  9. Remove the insulator from the core assembly.
  10.  
  11. Remove the core assembly from the heater case.
  12.  

To install:
  1. Install the core assembly into the heater case.
  2.  
  3. Place the insulator into the core assembly.
  4.  
  5. Snap the heater unit case closed at the bottom.
  6.  
  7. Install the lower part of the heater unit case and the six clips to hold the lower part of the case.
  8.  
  9. Connect the heater hose at the engine compartment.
  10.  
  11. Connect the negative battery cable.
  12.  

Storm

See Figures 1 and 2

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Drain the cooling system.
  2.  
  3. Remove the three duct mounting screws.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the duct between the blower assembly and the heater unit.
  6.  
  7. Remove the five screws attaching the mode control case to the heater core case.
  8.  
  9. Remove the mode control case. Do not remove the link assembly.
  10.

  1. Remove the five screws to separate the two halves of the heater core case.

  1. Remove the core assembly.
  2.  

To install:
  1. Install the core assembly.
  2.  
  3. Install the five screws to join the two halves of the heater core case.
  4.  
  5. Install the control case.
  6.  
  7. Install the five screws attaching the mode control case to the heater core case.
  8.  
  9. Connect the duct between the blower assembly and heater unit.
  10.  
  11. Install the three duct mounting screws.
  12.  
  13. Connect the negative battery cable.
  14.
