Electric Fuel Pump

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

Fuel pump replacement or service requires the removal of the fuel tank.

  1. Remove the fuel tank from the vehicle. Refer to the procedure later in this section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the 8 fuel pump mounting screws.
  4.  
  5. Remove the fuel pump bracket from the tank.
  6.  
  7. Loosen the screw-type fitting, then disconnect the fuel pump supply hose extension from the bracket.
  8.  
  9. Remove the gasket from the pump bracket or tank.
  10.  
  11. Remove the filter from the pump pick-up tube.
  12.  
  13. Unplug the electrical wires from the pump.
  14.  
  15. Remove the fuel pump bracket.
  16.  
  17. Disconnect the outlet hose from the pump.
  18.  

To install:
  1. Connect the outlet hose to the pump.
  2.  
  3. Install the pump on the bracket.
  4.  
  5. Install the electrical wiring connectors to the pump.
  6.  
  7. Install the filter to the pump pick-up tube.
  8.  
  9. Position the gasket on the pump bracket.
  10.  
  11. Install the fuel pump supply hose extension on the bracket and tighten the screw-type fitting to 25 ft. lbs. (34 Nm).
  12.  
  13. Install the fuel pump bracket to the tank.
  14.  
  15. Install the mounting screws and tighten to 30 inch lbs. (3 Nm).
  16.  
  17. Install the fuel tank assembly to the vehicle.
