Pressure Regulator

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



Except 1993 1.6L Engine
  1. Relieve fuel system pressure, then disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the fuel rail/injector assembly from the engine.
  4.  
  5. Remove the pressure regulator retaining screw.
  6.  
  7. Separate the regulator from the fuel rail by twisting back and forth while pulling it apart.
  8.  
  9. Remove and discard the regulator-to-rail and regulator-to-fuel line O-rings seals.
  10.  

To install:
  1. Lubricate new O-rings seals with clean engine oil, then install them to the regulator.
  2.  
  3. Install the regulator assembly to the fuel rail.
  4.  
  5. Install the regulator retaining screw and tighten to 102 inch lbs. (11.5 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Install the fuel rail/injector assembly.
  8.  
  9. Connect the negative battery cable, then cycle the ignition to build system pressure and check for leaks.
  10.  

1993 1.6L Engine
  1. Relieve the fuel system pressure, then disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the pressure regulator.
  4.  
  5. Remove the fuel return line from the regulator.
  6.  
  7. Remove the 2 fasteners holding the regulator to the fuel rail assembly.
  8.  
  9. Remove the regulator from the fuel rail, then remove and discard the O-ring seals.
  10.  

To install:
  1. Lubricate new O-rings seals with clean engine oil, then install them to the regulator.
  2.  
  3. Connect the fuel return line to the pressure regulator assembly.
  4.  
  5. Install the pressure regulator to the fuel rail, then secure using the 2 fasteners.
  6.  
  7. Connect the vacuum hose to the pressure regulator.
  8.  
  9. Connect the negative battery cable, then cycle the ignition to build system pressure and check for leaks.
  10.
