REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

  1. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Removal of the brake assembly may aid in spring removal, remove assembly as required.
  4.  
  5. At the center of the rear axle , remove the brake line, retaining clip and flexible hose.
  6.

  1. Remove the parking brake tension spring, located on the rear axle.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the parking brake cable from the turn buckle and the cable joint.
  4.  
  5. Support the axle with a jack, then remove the lower shock absorber bolt and the shock absorber from the vehicle.
  6.  
  7. Carefully lower the rear axle assembly and remove the rear coil spring.
  8.  

To install:
  1. Install the coil spring in position on the rear axle and raise the axle to position.
  2.  
  3. Support the axle in position and install the shock absorber to the vehicle. Tighten the lower shock absorber bolt to 30 ft. lbs. (40 Nm).
  4.  

Raise the axle assembly to a distance of 15.2 in. from the top of the wheel wheel to the center of the axle hub, then torque the fasteners. Always replace the lower shock absorber bolt with a new one.

  1. Connect the parking brake cable to the turn buckle and the cable joint.
  2.  
  3. Install the parking brake tension spring, located on the rear axle.
  4.  
  5. At the center of the rear axle , install the brake line, retaining clip and flexible hose.
  6.  
  7. Install the tire and wheel assembly.
  8.  
  9. Carefully lower the vehicle.
