Rear Knuckle

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



Storm
  1. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Place jackstands under the suspension support.
  4.  
  5. Lower the vehicle slightly so the weight of the vehicle rests on the suspension supports and not the suspension arms. Safely support the vehicle.
  6.  
  7. Remove the wheel and tire assembly.
  8.  
  9. Remove the rear hub unit assembly.
  10.  
  11. Remove the backing plate with the brake assembly and set aside.
  12.  
  13. Disconnect the through bolt from the trailing link at the axle side.
  14.  
  15. Disconnect the through bolt from the lateral link at the axle side.
  16.  
  17. Remove the knuckle from the strut.
  18.  

To install:
  1. Install the knuckle to the strut.
  2.  
  3. Connect the through bolt to the lateral link at the axle side and tighten to 94 ft. lbs. (128 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Connect the through bolt to the trailing link at the axle side and tighten to 94 ft. lbs. (128 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Install the backing plate with the brake assembly in place.
  8.  
  9. Connect the lateral link mounting bolt to the rear suspension knuckle and tighten.
  10.  
  11. Connect the trailing link mounting bolt to the rear suspension knuckle and tighten.
  12.  
  13. Install the rear hub assembly.
  14.  
  15. Install the rear brake drum assembly.
  16.  
  17. Install the wheel and tire assembly.
  18.  
  19. Raise the vehicle slightly to allow for removal of the jackstands. Remove the jackstands.
  20.  
  21. Lower the vehicle.
  22.  
  23. Bounce the vehicle up and down to stabilize the suspension.
  24.  
  25. Check the rear wheel alignment.
