Rear Wheel Bearings

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



Spectrum
  1. Raise and support the vehicle safely.
  2.  
  3. Remove the rear wheel assemblies.
  4.  
  5. Remove the hub cap, cotter pin, hub nut, washer and outer bearing.
  6.  
  7. Remove the hub.
  8.  
  9. Using a slide hammer puller and attachment, pull the oil seal from the hub. Remove the inner bearing.
  10.  
  11. Using a brass drift and a hammer, drive both bearing races from the hub.
  12.  
  13. Clean, inspect and/or replace all parts.
  14.  

To install:
  1. Install the hub and brake drum assembly.
  2.  
  3. Install the hub washer and hub nut. Tighten the hub nut to 22 ft. lbs. (29 Nm) while rotating the hub.
  4.  
  5. Completely loosen the hub nut.
  6.  
  7. Tighten the hub nut by hand.
  8.  
  9. Install the retainer and insert the cotter pin.
  10.  

If the cotter pin holes are out of alignment upon reassembly, use a wrench to tighten the nut until the hole in the shaft and a slot of the nut align.

  1. Grease the inner area of the hub cap and install the cap.
  2.  
  3. Install the rear wheel assemblies and tighten the wheel nuts.
  4.  
  5. Safely lower the vehicle.
  6.
