REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



Spectrum
  1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal from the battery.
  2.  
  3. Remove the steering housing cover from the steering column by remove the screws on the bottom side of the cover.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the ignition switch wire and the turn signal switch wire from the connector. On vehicles equipped with automatic transaxles, remove the park lock cable at the column by removing the pin.
  6.  
  7. Remove the turn signal switch attaching screws.
  8.  
  9. Remove the turn signal switch.
  10.  

To install:
  1. Install the turn signal switch and secure using the attaching screws.
  2.  
  3. Connect the ignition switch wire and the turn signal switch wire to the connector. On vehicles equipped with automatic transaxles, connect the park lock cable at the column with the pin.
  4.  
  5. Install the steering housing cover to the steering column with the screws on the bottom side of the cover.
  6.  
  7. Connect the negative battery terminal to the battery.
  8.  

Storm

If equipped with an air bag system, disable the system prior to starting the repair procedure. If not disabled, accidental deployment and personal injury may occur.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal from the battery.
  2.  
  3. Remove the steering wheel.
  4.  
  5. Pull out the left switch bezel, disconnect the electrical connector and remove the bezel.
  6.  
  7. Pull out the cigar lighter bezel, disconnect the electrical connector and remove the bezel.
  8.  
  9. Remove the two screws from the engine hood opener and remove the opener.
  10.  
  11. Remove the engine hood opener cable.
  12.  
  13. Remove the five screws, the bolt and the nut attaching the knee pad assembly and remove the assembly.
  14.  
  15. Remove the lap air deflector screws and remove the lap air deflector.
  16.  
  17. Remove the left lower dash trim panel screws and the lower dash trim panel.
  18.  
  19. Remove the upper steering column mounting bolts and drop down the column.
  20.  
  21. Remove the two piece steering column cover screws and the two piece steering column cover.
  22.  
  23. Disconnect the coil assembly wiring harness from the turn signal switch.
  24.  
  25. Remove the four screws and the coil assembly from the turn signal switch.
  26.  
  27. Remove the turn signal switch screws and the turn signal switch.
  28.  

To install:
  1. Install the turn signal switch screws and the turn signal switch.
  2.  
  3. Install the four screws and the coil assembly to the turn signal switch.
  4.  
  5. Connect the coil assembly wiring harness to the turn signal switch.
  6.  
  7. Install the two piece steering column cover and the two piece steering column cover screws.
  8.  
  9. Raise the steering column and install the upper steering column mounting bolts. Tighten the bolts to 18 ft. lbs. (24 Nm).
  10.  
  11. Install the left lower dash trim panel and tighten the lower dash trim panel screws.
  12.  
  13. Install the lap air deflector and tighten the lap air deflector screws.
  14.  
  15. Install the knee pad assembly and tighten the five screws, the bolt and the nut attaching the assembly.
  16.  
  17. Install the engine hood opener cable.
  18.  
  19. Install the engine hood opener and tighten the two screws.
  20.  
  21. Connect the electrical connector to the cigar lighter bezel and install the bezel.
  22.  
  23. Connect the electrical connector to the left switch bezel and install the bezel.
  24.  
  25. Install the steering wheel.
  26.  
  27. Connect the negative battery terminal to the battery.
  28.
