Adjustment

Specific to:

Chrysler Town & Country 2008-2009

Dodge Grand Caravan 2008-2009

It is not necessary to adjust the accessory drive belt tension. These engines are equipped with an automatic belt tensioner. The tensioner maintains correct belt tension at all times; consequently, do not attempt to use a belt tension gauge on these engines.

Inspection

Specific to:

Chrysler Town & Country 2008-2009

Dodge Grand Caravan 2008-2009

Inspect the drive belt for signs of glazing or cracking. A glazed belt will be perfectly smooth from slippage, while a good belt will have a slight texture of fabric visible. Cracks will usually start at the inner edge of the belt and run outward. All worn or damaged drive belts should be replaced immediately.
