3.4L (VIN E) Engine

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.
  3. With the engine cool, partially drain the cooling system.
    NOTE
The engine struts must be rotated. To prevent shearing of the rubber bushings, loosen the bolts on the engine struts before swinging the struts.

  4.
  5. Remove the engine strut brace bolts from the upper tie bar and rotate the struts and the braces rearward.
  6.
  7. Carefully disconnect the throttle body air inlet and adjust the air cleaner assembly for access.
  8.
  9. Disconnect the radiator inlet hose from the radiator.
  10.
  11. Disengage the cooling fan shroud retainers, and remove the shroud bolts.
  12.
  13. Disconnect the transmission oil cooler lines from the retainers at the bottom of the shroud. Disengage the shroud clip from the top of the radiator.
  14.
  15. Reposition the cooling fan shroud for access and detach the electrical connector.
  16.
  17. Remove the fan shroud with the electric cooling fans as an assembly.
  18.

To install:

  1. Attach the cooling fan electrical connector.
  2.
  3. Install the cooling fan and shroud assembly. Engage the shroud clip at the top of the radiator. Some pressure is needed to completely engage the clip onto the radiator.
  4.
  5. Connect the transaxle cooler lines to the retainers at the bottom of the fan shroud.
  6.
  7. Install the shroud bolts and torque to 80 inch lbs. (9 Nm). Install the shroud retainers.
  8.
  9. Connect the radiator hose to the radiator.
  10.
  11. Install the air cleaner assembly and air inlet ducts, as required.
  12.
