Lower Control Arms

Removal & Installation



  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Remove the steering knuckle.
  4.  
  5. Remove the stabilizer shaft links from the lower control arm.
  6.  
  7. Remove the shock absorber nut and through bolt.
  8.  
  9. Remove the torsion bar as necessary.
  10.  
  11. Remove the lower control arm nuts and the washers.

  13. Remove the lower control arm bolts.
  14.  
  15. Remove the lower control arm.
  16.  

To install:

  1. Install the lower control arm.
  2.  
  3. Install the lower control arm bolts.
  4.  
  5. Install the washer (front bolt only) with the shoulder facing the control arm.

  7. Install the lower control arm nuts. Do not tighten.
  8.  
  9. Install the steering knuckle.
  10.  
  11. Install the torsion bar.
  12.  
  13. Install the shock absorber through bolt and nut.
  14.  
  15. Install the stabilizer shaft links to the lower control arm.
  16.  
  17. Lower the vehicle.
    NOTE
    The fasteners must be tightened in sequence. Tighten the rear nut first then the front nut.

  18.  
  19. With the vehicle at ride height, tighten the lower control arm nuts.
    1. Tighten the rear nut to 133 ft. lbs. (180 Nm).
    2.  
    3. Tighten the front nut to 122 ft. lbs. (165 Nm).
