Removal & Installation



  1. Disable the SIR system.
  2.  
  3. Remove the Instrument Panel (I/P) storage compartment.

  5. Remove the left and right windshield garnish moldings.

    1. Remove the windshield side garnish bolt hole finish plug.
    2.  
    3. Remove the windshield side garnish screw.
    4.  
    5. Disconnect the electrical connector.
    6.  
    7. Remove the windshield side garnish molding assembly.

  7. Remove the left and right front door sill plates.

  11. Remove the instrument panel center trim plate.

  13. Remove the radio.
    1. Remove the screws that retain the radio to the Instrument Panel (I/P).
    2.  
    3. Partially remove the radio disengaging the radio rear alignment locator to gain access to the electrical connectors.
    4.  
    5. Disconnect the radio antenna cable.
    6.  
    7. Disconnect the electrical connectors to the radio.
    8.  
    9. Remove the radio from the vehicle.
    10.

  15. Remove the left air outlet using a plastic trim tool around the outer perimeter release the grille assembly from the I/P trim pad.

  17. Remove the right air outlet using a plastic trim tool around the outer perimeter release the grille assembly from the I/P trim pad.

    1. Use a small plastic trim tool to remove the sensor.

    3. Disconnect the electrical connector.

  31. Remove the 3 upper I/P nuts retaining the I/P to the bulkhead.

  35. Remove the 2 screws retaining the I/P compartment door latch striker.

  37. Remove the 3 lower I/P retaining screws located near the I/P storage compartment.

  39. Remove the digital radio receiver.
    1. Remove the right I/P outer trim cover.

    3. Unfold the service panel located above the I/P compartment door.
    4.  
    5. Remove the screws retaining the digital radio receiver to the I/P structure.

    7. Lower the receiver from the I/P.
      NOTE
      Do not attempt to pry or slide the electrical connector release lever.

    9. Disconnect the electrical connector by pushing on the release lever.

    11. Remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) from the electrical connector.

    13. Remove the connector from the receiver.

    15. Remove the receiver from the vehicle.

  41. Remove the 2 screws located in the IPM opening.

  45. Reach through the I/P storage compartment opening and remove the screw retaining the I/P carrier to the I/P structure.

  47. Grasp the lower center edge of the I/P and pull rearward in order to release the 2 retaining clips.

  49. Grasp the lower right edge of the I/P and pull rearward in order to release the retaining clip.

  51. Pull the I/P partially away from the I/P structure.

  53. With automatic transmission, move the gear selector to low range and remove the shift knob.
  54.  
  55. With manual transmission, place the gear selector in 2nd or 4th gear and remove the shift knob.
  56.  
  57. With the aid of an assistant, carefully remove the I/P from the vehicle.
  58.  

To install:

  1. With the aid of an assistant, partially install the I/P cover to the I/P structure.
  2.  
  3. Ensure all the wire harness and electrical connectors are not pinched between the I/P and I/P structure.
  4.  
  5. Connect the electrical connectors to the power outlets.
  6.  
  7. Push on the lower center edge of the I/P and seat the 2 retaining clips.
  8.  
  9. Push on the lower right edge of the I/P and seat the retaining clip.
  10.  
  11. Install the 3 upper HVAC duct screws retaining the duct to the I/P.
  12.  
  13. Install the 3 upper nuts retaining the I/P to the bulkhead. Tighten the nuts to 80 inch lbs. (9 Nm).
  14.  
  15. Reach through the I/P storage compartment opening and install the screw retaining the I/P carrier to the I/P structure.
  16.  
  17. Install the 2 screws located in the IPM opening.
  18.  
  19. Install the end cap screw.
  20.  
  21. Position the hazard warning switch harness through the routing hole.
  22.  
  23. Install the 2 screws retaining the I/P compartment door latch.
  24.  
  25. Install the 3 lower I/P retaining screws located near the I/P storage compartment. Tighten the screws to 80 inch lbs. (9 Nm).

  27. Install the screw located behind the IPC. Tighten the screw to 80 inch lbs. (9 Nm).

  29. Install the 3 upper I/P bolt covers.
  30.  
  31. Install the ambient light sensor.
  32.  
  33. Install the headlamp switch.
  34.  
  35. Install the left air outlet.
  36.  
  37. Install the IPC.
  38.  
  39. Install the IPC trim plate.
  40.  
  41. Install the knee bolster bracket.
  42.  
  43. Install the digital radio receiver.
  44.  
  45. Install the right air outlet.
  46.  
  47. Install the radio.
  48.  
  49. Install the instrument panel center trim panel.
  50.  
  51. Install the I/P storage compartment.
  52.  
  53. Install the left and right windshield garnish moldings.
  54.  
  55. Install the left and right lower cowl panels.
  56.  
  57. Install the left and right front door sill plates.
  58.  
  59. Install the transmission shift knob.
  60.  
  61. Enable the SIR system.
