WARNING
Never operate the radio without a speaker; severe damage to the output transistors will result. If the speaker must be replaced, use a speaker of the correct impedance (ohms) or else the output transistors will be damaged and require replacement.

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



Civic
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. From under the dash, remove the rear radio bracket-to-back tray screw. Remove the radio-to-bracket wing nut and the bracket.
  2.  
  3. Remove the control knobs, hex nuts and trim plate from the radio control shafts.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the antenna and speaker leads, the bullet type radio fuse and the white lead connected directly over the radio opening.
  6.  
  7. Drop the radio out, bottom first, through the package tray.
  8.  
  9. To install, reverse the removal procedures. Check radio for proper operation.
  10.  

When inserting the radio through the package tray, be sure the bottom side is up and the control shafts are facing toward the engine. Otherwise, you will not be able to position the radio properly through its opening in the dash.

Accord And Prelude
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove the center lower lid screws and the lid.
  2.  
  3. From under the lid, remove the radio mounting screws.
  4.  
  5. Remove the radio knobs and the faceplate.
  6.  
  7. Remove the heater fan switch knob and the heater lever knobs.
  8.  
  9. Remove the heater control bezel and the center panel. To do this, remove the three center panel screws and the ash tray. Slide the panel to the left to remove it. Disconnect the cigarette lighter leads.
  10.  
  11. Remove the radio electrical leads and the radio.
  12.  
  13. To install, reverse the removal procedures. Check radio for proper operation.
