REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

Accord
  1. If equipped with an air bag, disconnect the negative battery cable and properly disable the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), as detailed in Chassis Electrical .
  2.  
  3. Remove the control unit attaching bolts. Don't lose the nuts behind the stay. Disconnect the bolt holding the ground lug.
  4.  

Once the bolts are removed, any stored codes are lost.

  1. Remove the control unit and cover. Remove the cover.
  2.  
  3. Carefully unplug the connectors from the control unit.
  4.  

To install:
  1. Engage the connectors to the unit.
  2.  
  3. Fit the cover into position; install the assembly and tighten the bolts snugly. Install the bolt holding the ground lug.
  4.  
  5. If equipped, enable the SRS system and connect the negative battery cable.
  6.  
  7. Turn the ignition switch ON and check for correct ALB system function.
  8.  

Prelude
  1. If equipped with an air bag, disconnect the negative battery cable and properly disable the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), as detailed in Chassis Electrical .
  2.  
  3. Remove the cover at the front of the console. The console need not be removed.
  4.  
  5. Remove the 4 mounting bolts holding the control unit.
  6.  

When the mounting bolts are removed, any fault codes stored in the memory will be lost.

  1. Carefully disconnect the wiring harnesses.
  2.  

To install:
  1. Connect the wiring harnesses; fit the control unit into place.
  2.  
  3. Install the 4 retaining bolts; tighten them to 7 ft. lbs. (10 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install the front cover on the console.
  6.  
  7. If equipped, enable the SRS system and connect the negative battery cable.
  8.  
  9. Turn the ignition switch ON and check for correct ALB system function.
