REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. If so equipped, disable the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), as described in Chassis Electrical .
  2.
  3. Disconnect and plug the clutch hose from the slave cylinder.
  4.
  5. Remove the 2 retaining bolts and remove the slave cylinder.
  6.
  7. Install in reverse order. Bleed the clutch hydraulic system.
  8.

OVERHAUL

Overhaul of the slave cylinder is not recommended. In the event that the cylinder requires replacement, it is recommended to replace both the master cylinder and slave cylinder as a set for added reliability.

SYSTEM BLEEDING

The hydraulic system must be bled whenever the system has been leaking or dismantled. The bleed screw is located on the slave cylinder.

  1. Remove the bleed screw dust cap.
  2.
  3. Attach a clear hose to the bleed screw. Immerse the other end of the hose in a clear jar, half filled with brake fluid.
  4.
  5. Fill the clutch master cylinder with fresh brake fluid.
  6.
  7. Open the bleed screw slightly and have an assistant slowly depress the clutch pedal. Close the bleed screw when the pedal reaches the end of its travel. Allow the clutch pedal to return slowly.
  8.
  9. Repeat until all air bubbles are expelled from the system.
  10.
  11. Properly dispose of the brake fluid in the jar. Install the dust cap. Refill the master cylinder.
  12.
