These switches provide electrical signals to the control unit to interrupt cruise control when either pedal is used. The switches are located at the respective pedals, at the top of the pedal shaft. The brake switch also operates the brake lights.

To remove either switch, unplug the wiring connector, loosen the locknut and remove the switch. When reinstalling, adjust the switch with the locknut so that the switch engages within the first 1 / 2 in. (13mm) of pedal motion. If the switch is set with no slack or free-play in its motion, a healthy bump in the road may interrupt the cruise control operation.
