REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

1984-85 Accord

The control unit is located behind the dash, near the back of the instrument cluster.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. From under the dash, remove the screws securing the bracket and carefully lower the assembly. If access to the screws is not possible from under the dash, remove the instrument cluster.
  4.  
  5. Unplug the wire harness from the cruise control unit, then remove the unit from the bracket.
  6.  
  7. Installation is the reverse of removal.
  8.  

1984-87 Prelude

The control unit is located inside the right rear side trim panel.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the right rear side trim panel.
  4.  
  5. Remove the screws securing the control unit to the bracket. Unplug the wiring and remove the control unit from the vehicle.
  6.  
  7. Installation is the reverse of removal.
  8.

1986-89 Accord

The control unit is secured under the top left side of the dashboard.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Lower the fuse box from under the dash after removing its retaining screws.
  4.  
  5. From under the dash, unplug its connector and remove the fasteners securing the unit. If needed, additional access may be gained by removing the instrument cluster. Remove the unit from the vehicle.
  6.  
  7. Installation is the reverse of removal.
  8.  

1988-91 Prelude and 1990-95 Accord

The control unit is mounted in the lower left side of the dashboard, next to the steering column.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. If so equipped, disable the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS).
  2.  
  3. Remove the left lower dash panel or knee bolster.
  4.  
  5. Unplug the connector from the control unit.
  6.  
  7. Remove the bolts securing the bracket, then remove the assembly from the vehicle.
  8.  
  9. Installation is the reverse of removal. If applicable, be sure to enable the SRS.
  10.  

1992-95 Prelude
  1. Disconnect the battery cables, then disable the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS).
  2.  
  3. Remove the instrument cluster.
  4.  
  5. Unplug the connector from the control unit.
  6.  
  7. Remove the bolts securing the bracket, then remove the assembly from the vehicle.
  8.  
  9. Installation is the reverse of removal. Be sure to enable the SRS.
