REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



1984-85 Accord

See Figure 1

FRONT
  1. Remove the splash guard under the engine.
  2.  
  3. Remove the bumper mount bolts.
  4.  
  5. Slide the bumper forward off the clips securing its corners to the wheel well.
  6.  
  7. Reassemble in reverse order. The bumper must be slid over the end clips at the time of installation. Tighten the bumper bolts to 28 ft. lbs. (39 Nm.)

REAR
  1. Remove the 3 screws or clips securing the bumper at each wheel well.
  2.  
  3. Remove the bumper mounting bolts and remove the bumper.
  4.  
  5. Reassemble in reverse order. Tighten the mounting bolts to 28 ft. lbs. (39 Nm.)
  6.  

1986-89 Accord
FRONT

See Figure 2

  1. Remove the front side and turn signal fixtures and disconnect the wiring.
  2.  
  3. Remove the two rear bumper mount screws at each wheel well.
  4.

  1. Remove the two lower bumper mount bolts.
  2.  
  3. Remove the four bumper mount bolts; remove the bumper by sliding it forward.
  4.  
  5. Reinstall in reverse order. Tighten all bumper mounting bolts to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm.) Reinstall the signal lamp assemblies.
  6.  

REAR

See Figure 3

  1. Remove the 3 screws or clips securing the bumper at each wheel well.
  2.  
  3. Remove the bumper mounting bolts and remove the bumper.
  4.

  1. Reassemble in reverse order. Tighten the mounting bolts to 28 ft. lbs. (39 Nm.)

1990-95 Accord
FRONT

See Figures 4 and 5

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable and disable the SRS system (if equipped.)
  2.  
  3. Open the hood and remove the bumper mounting nuts.
  4.  
  5. Remove the front turn signal assemblies.
  6.

  1. Remove the screws at each rear edge of the bumper (at the wheels.)
  2.

  1. Remove the lower bumper mounting clips.
  2.  
  3. Remove the mounting bolts. Lift and remove the bumper by sliding it forward.
  4.  

To install:
  1. Install the bumper by sliding it into place.
  2.  
  3. Loosely install all the mounting bolts; check the position of the bumper on the car, adjusting if necessary.
  4.  
  5. Tighten the mounting nuts and bolts to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm.)
  6.  
  7. Reinstall the turn signal assemblies.
  8.  
  9. Connect the battery cable and enable the SRS system.
  10.  

REAR

See Figures 6 and 7

  1. Open the trunk lid. Remove the small round access covers from the trunk liner panels. Remove the upper bumper mounting nuts from the trunk side.

  1. Remove the bumper mounting screws at each wheel well.

  1. Remove the clips, then remove the protectors from below the trunk floor.
  2.  
  3. Remove the lower bumper mounting nuts. Remove the center clip from under the trunk floor.
  4.  
  5. Remove the bumper by sliding it to the rear of the car.
  6.  
  7. Install in reverse order. Tighten the mounting bolts to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm.)
  8.  

1984-85 Prelude
FRONT

See Figure 8

  1. Remove the splash guard under the engine.
  2.  
  3. Remove the bumper mount bolts.
  4.

  1. Slide the bumper forward from the clips securing its corners to the wheel well.
  2.  
  3. Reassemble in reverse order. The bumper must be slid over the end clips at the time of installation. Tighten the bumper bolts to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm.)
  4.  

REAR

See Figure 9

  1. Remove the 3 screws or clips securing the bumper at each wheel well.
  2.  
  3. Remove the bumper mounting bolts and remove the bumper.
  4.  
  5. Reassemble in reverse order. Tighten the mounting bolts to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm.)
  6.  

1986-95 Prelude
FRONT

See Figures 10, 11 and 12

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable and disable the SRS system (if equipped.)
  2.  
  3. Remove the side marker and turn signal lamps if mounted in the bumper.
  4.  
  5. Remove the fog lamps or the lid if so equipped.
  6.  
  7. Remove the bumper mounting bolts.
  8.

  1. Remove the bumper by sliding it forward.

  1. Open the trunk lid. Remove the access covers from the trunk liner panels. Remove the upper bumper mounting nuts from inside the trunk.
