REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



1984-89 Accord and 1984-87 Prelude

See Figure 1

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the glove box.
  4.

  1. Remove the duct between the blower and heater box.
  2.  
  3. Unplug the wiring connector and the vacuum hose from the blower.
  4.  
  5. Remove the three mounting bolts and remove the blower assembly.
  6.  
  7. Install in reverse order, tightening the mounting bolts to 7 ft. lbs. (10 Nm). Make certain the blower mating surfaces are tightly sealed. Install the blower duct; make certain there is no leakage at its joints.

1990-93 Accord

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. If so equipped, disable the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS).
  2.  
  3. Remove the glove box.
  4.  
  5. Remove the glove box frame (lower support)
  6.

  1. If not equipped with air conditioning:
    1. Remove the three screws and remove the heater duct.
    2.  
    3. Remove the blower mounting nuts. Unplug the wiring from the blower motor, resistor and recirculation control motor, then remove the blower assembly.

  3. If equipped with air conditioning:
    1. Lift the carpet in the passenger compartment. Remove the side cover (kick panel).
    2.  
    3. Remove the control unit bracket nuts; unplug the five connectors and remove the control unit bracket.
    4.  
    5. Remove the retaining band, then remove the blower lower covers. Do not break the tabs on the lower covers.
    6.  
    7. Remove the retaining nuts and remove the blower assembly.

To install:
  1. Install the blower unit and tighten the retaining nuts.
  2.  
  3. On air conditioned vehicles:
    1. Install the lower covers and the retaining band.
    2.  
    3. Install the control unit bracket and carefully engage the wiring connectors to their proper location.
    4.  
    5. Install the kick panel and reposition the carpet.
    6.

  5. Connect the wiring to the blower assembly. For non-air conditioned vehicles, install the air duct and tighten the screws.
  6.  
  7. Install the glove box frame and install the glove box. Note that some of trim on the frame is held with 2-sided tape; replace the tape when reassembling as necessary.
  8.  
  9. If applicable, enable the SRS.
  10.  
  11. Connect the negative battery cable.
  12.  

1988-91 Prelude

See Figure 5

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the glove box and frame (lower support).
  4.  
  5. Remove the 4 screws and remove the heater duct.
  6.

  1. Remove the 3 mounting bolts.
  2.  
  3. Unplug the wiring connectors from the blower motor, resistor and recirculation controller. Remove the blower motor assembly.
  4.  
  5. Reinstall in reverse order. Make certain the blower mating surfaces are tightly sealed.
  6.  

1994-95 Accord and 1992-95 Prelude

See Figure 6

  1. Disconnect the battery cables and disable the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS).
  2.  
  3. Unplug any electrical connections on the blower motor.
  4.  
  5. Remove the screws securing the blower motor, then remove it from the vehicle.
  6.

  1. Installation is the reverse of removal. Be sure to enable the SRS.
