Fuel Pressure Regulator

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



Except Accord V-6

See Figure 1

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Place a cloth or rag under the regulator to contain any escaping fuel.
  4.  
  5. Relieve the fuel system pressure.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the regulator.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the fuel line from the regulator; plug the line to prevent spillage or the entry of dirt.
  10.  
  11. Remove the 2 retaining bolts and remove the regulator.
  12.  
  13. Remove the O-ring from the regulator and discard it.
  14.  

To install:
  1. Install a new O-ring on the regulator; coat the ring lightly with a thin coat of clean, fresh engine oil.

  1. Install the regulator, making sure the O-ring is not distorted or damaged. Tighten the retaining bolts to 9 ft. lbs. (12 Nm).

  3. Connect the fuel and vacuum lines.
  4.  
  5. Start the engine and check for leaks.
  6.  

Accord V-6

See Figure 2

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the intake manifold cover.
  4.  
  5. Relieve the fuel system pressure.
  6.  
  7. Place a cloth or rag under the regulator to contain any escaping fuel.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the regulator.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect the fuel line from the regulator; plug the line to prevent spillage or the entry of dirt.
  12.  
  13. Loosen the locking nut, then unthread the regulator from the fuel rail.
  14.  
  15. Discard the O-ring.
  16.  

To install:
  1. Install the regulator in the fuel rail with a new O-ring. Turn it by hand until it stops.
  2.  
  3. Turn the regulator counterclockwise until it is correctly positioned. Refer to the illustration.

  1. Tighten the locking nut to 22 ft. lbs. (29 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Connect the fuel return line and the vacuum hose.
  4.  
  5. Start then engine and check for leaks. Install the intake manifold cover.
