REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

Front

The front door panel must be removed to gain access to the speaker. Remove the speaker retaining screws and remove the speaker; disconnect the speaker wiring. Most of the front speakers are set into a plastic sleeve or protector in the door. This protects the speaker from water and moisture in the door. Make sure the shield is in place when reinstalling the speakers.

Rear
ACCORD

On Accord hatchbacks, remove the speaker grille or cover. Some are press-fit in place, others are held by plastic retaining pins. Look carefully before prying. Once the speaker is exposed, remove the retaining screws and remove the speaker. On 1984-85 Accord sedans, remove the speaker cover. Carefully lift or remove the rear shelf to gain access to the speaker; remove the retaining screws and the speaker. The 1986-89 sedans, remove the speaker grille, then remove the screws securing the speaker. On 1990-95 Accord sedans, three speaker retaining nuts must be removed from the trunk side. While in there, disconnect the wiring. Then remove the speaker grille and remove the speaker.

All the rear speakers sit in some type of support or frame. This provides both a firm mount and isolates the speaker from its surroundings, preventing distortion. Make sure the frame is present when reinstalling the speaker.

PRELUDE

On 1984-91 Preludes, remove the speaker grille, then remove the screws securing the radio. On 1992-95 models, three speaker retaining nuts must be removed from inside the trunk. While in there, disconnect the wiring, then remove the grille and speaker.

All the rear speakers sit in some type of support or frame. This provides both a firm mount and isolates the speaker from its surroundings, preventing distortion. Make sure the frame is present when reinstalling the speaker.
