Upper Timing Belt Cover & Seal

  1. Note the radio security code and disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the valve cover.
  4.  
  5. Remove the upper timing belt cover fasteners, then remove the cover.
  6.  
  7. Remove the seal from the groove in the cover.
  8.  

To install:

  1. Secure the seal in the cover. It may be helpful to use a semi drying gasket sealant to hold the seal in place.
  2.  
  3. The remainder of the installation procedure is the reverse of disassembly.
  4.  
  5. Enter the radio security code.
  6.  

Lower Timing Belt Cover & Seal

Fig. Once all of the fasteners are loose, pull out the lower timing belt cover

  1. Note the radio security code and disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the accessory drive belts. For specific details, refer to the drive belt procedures in Section 1.
  4.  
  5. Remove the crankshaft pulley. For specific details, refer to the removal and installation procedure in this section.
  6.  
  7. Remove any necessary fasteners, then remove the lower timing belt cover.
  8.  
  9. Remove the seal from the groove in the cover.
  10.  

To install:

  1. Secure the seal in the cover. It may be helpful to use a semi drying gasket sealant to hold the seal in place.
  2.  
  3. The remainder of the installation procedure is the reverse of disassembly.
  4.  
  5. For specific details pertaining to the crankshaft pulley installation , refer to the removal and installation procedure in this section.
  6.  
  7. For specific detail on drive belt installation, refer to the drive belt procedures in Section 1.
  8.  
  9. Enter the radio security code.
