Honda - Accord Prelude 1996 2000

Body Lubrication and Maintenance

The body mechanisms and linkages should be inspected, cleaned and lubricated, as necessary, to preserve correct operation and to avoid wear and corrosion. Before lubricating a component, make sure to wipe any dirt or grease from the surface with a suitable rag. If necessary, use a suitable cleaning solvent to clean off the surface. In addition, don't forget to wipe any excess lubricant off the component when finished.

To be sure the hood latch works properly, use white lithium grease to lubricate the latch, safety catch and hood hinges, as necessary. Apply Honda® or equivalent multi-purpose grease sparingly to all pivots and slide contact areas.

Use white lithium grease to lubricate the following components:

Door hinges-hinge pin and pivot points
Hood hinges-pivot points
Trunk lid hinges-pivot points
Door check mechanism
Ashtray slides
Parking brake moving parts
Front seat tracks

Use multi-purpose grease to lubricate the following components:

Throttle cable end at the throttle body
Brake master cylinder pushrod
Pedal linkage
Battery terminals
Fuel fill door latch mechanism
Clutch master cylinder push rod
Manual transmission shift lever pivots
Manual transmission release fork
