The Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) can be cleared using one of two methods. A suitable On Board Diagnostic version II (OBD-II) Data Scan Tool (DST) can be used to clear the DTCs or the Back-Up Radio (clock) fuse can be removed to clear the codes.
The advantage of using a DST is that all of the stored fault codes can be read before clearing them. This may be handy for future diagnostic purposes. When clearing the stored DTCs by removing the fuse, all of the codes are cleared at one time. Once the codes are cleared, the stored information is lost.
To clear the DTCs using a Data Scan Tool (DST), connect the tool and proceed, following the tool manufacturer's directions.
To clear the stored DTCs by removing the clock fuse, perform the following:
- Locate the 7.5 amp BACK-UP (Radio) fuse.
- Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position
- Remove the fuse for 10 seconds, then reinstall the fuse.
