Operation



Specific to:

Honda Fit 2007-2008

The Vehicle Speed (VSS) sensor is driven by the differential. It generates a pulsed signal from an input of 5 volts. The number of pulses per minute increases or decreases with the speed of the vehicle.

Removal & Installation



Specific to:

Honda S2000 2007-2008

  1. Disconnect the output shaft (countershaft) speed sensor 3P connector.
  2.  
  3. Remove the output shaft (countershaft) speed sensor.
  4.  

To install:

  1. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal with a new O-ring.
  2.  

Specific to:

Honda Fit 2007-2008

  1. Remove the air cleaner.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the Vehicle Speed (VSS) sensor connector.
  4.  
  5. Remove the VSS.

To install:

  1. Install the parts in the reverse order removal with new O-ring.

2.4L Engine

Specific to:

Honda Accord 2007-2008

  1. Disconnect the output shaft (countershaft) speed sensor connector, and remove the output shaft (countershaft) speed sensor.
  2.  

To install:

  1. Install a new O-ring on the new output shaft (countershaft) speed sensor, and then install the output shaft (countershaft) speed sensor in the transmission housing.
  2.  
  3. Check the connector for rust, dirt, or oil, and clean if necessary, and then connect the connector securely.
  4.  

3.0L Engine

Specific to:

Honda Accord 2007

  1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, and then disconnect the positive cable from the battery.
  2.  
  3. Unbolt the under-hood fuse/relay box.
  4.  
  5. Reposition the under-hood fuse/relay box to gain access to the output shaft (countershaft) speed sensor.
  6.  
  7. Remove the battery hold-down bracket, the battery cover, battery, and battery tray.
  8.  
  9. Loosen the two bolts securing the battery base from under the vehicle, and remove the two bolts securing the battery base in the engine compartment, and then remove the battery base.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect output shaft (countershaft) speed sensor connector.
  12.  
  13. Remove the bolt securing the output shaft (countershaft) speed sensor from the transmission housing.
  14.  

To install:

  1. Install the new O-ring on the output shaft (countershaft) speed sensor, and then install the output shaft (countershaft) speed sensor in the transmission housing. Do not allow dust or foreign particles to enter the transmission.
  2.  
  3. Check for rust, dirt, or oil, and then connect the connector securely.
  4.  
  5. Install the battery base and battery, and then connect the battery terminals.
  6.  

3.5L Engine

Specific to:

Honda Accord 2008

  1. Disconnect the battery cables and remove the battery.
  2.  
  3. Remove the 6 x 1.0 mm bolt securing the resonator bracket under the battery base bracket, and remove the battery base and the battery base bracket in the engine compartment.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the input shaft (mainshaft) speed sensor connector, and remove the input shaft (mainshaft) speed sensor.
  6.  

To install:

  1. Install a new O-ring on a new input shaft (mainshaft) speed sensor, and then install the input shaft (mainshaft) speed sensor.
  2.  
  3. Check the connector for rust, dirt, or oil, and then connect the connector securely.
  4.  
  5. Install the battery base bracket and the battery base, and secure the resonator bracket under the battery base bracket with the bolt.
  6.  
  7. Install the battery and connect the battery cables.
  8.  

Hybrid

Specific to:

Honda Civic 2007-2008

  1. Remove the air intake assembly.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the CVT speed sensor connector, and then remove the CVT speed sensor.
  4.  

To install:

  1. Install a new O-ring on a new CVT speed sensor, and then install the CVT speed sensor in the transmission housing.
  2.  
  3. Check the connector for rust, dirt, or oil, and then connect the connector securely.
  4.  
  5. Install the air cleaner assembly and the intake air duct.
  6.  

Non-hybrid

Specific to:

Honda Civic 2007-2008

  1. Remove the air intake assembly.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the output shaft (countershaft) speed sensor connector, and remove the output shaft (countershaft) speed sensor.
  4.  
  5. Install a new O-ring on a new output shaft (countershaft) speed sensor, and then install the output shaft (countershaft) speed sensor in the transmission housing.
  6.  

To install:

  1. Check the connector for rust, dirt, or oil, and then connect the connector securely.
  2.  
  3. Install the air intake assembly.
  4.
