Specific to:

Honda S2000 2007-2008


NOTE
Make sure to acquire the anti-theft code from the radio and write down the frequencies for the radio-s preset buttons.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Drain the cooling system.
  4.  
  5. Relieve the fuel system pressure.
  6.  
  7. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Negative battery cable
     
    Cooling hoses from the intake manifold
     
    Vacuum hoses and electrical connectors from the manifold and throttle body
     
    Throttle cable from the throttle body
     
    Fuel rail and fuel injectors
     
    Intake manifold support brackets
     
    Intake manifold

To install:


NOTE
Use new gaskets when installing the intake manifold. Use new O-rings when installing manifold sensors and components. Use new sealing washers when reconnecting the fuel lines.

  1. Clean all gasket mating surfaces.
  2.  
  3. Torque the intake manifold retaining nuts to specification.
  4.  
  5. Continue the installation in the reverse order of the removal procedure.
  6.  

Specific to:

Honda Fit 2007-2008

  1. Remove the engine cover.
  2.  
  3. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the brake booster vacuum hose, harness holder, the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor connector and the bolt.
  6.  
  7. Remove the four coolant housing bolts as shown.

  9. Remove the harness holder, the PCV hose, and the dipstick.
  10.  
  11. Remove the intake manifold and the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) plate gasket.

To install:

  1. Install a new EGR plate gasket.
  2.  
  3. Install the intake manifold and tighten the bolts and nuts in a crisscross pattern in three steps, beginning with the inner bolt, and reaching a final torque of 17 ft. lbs. (24 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install the dipstick, the PCV hose and the harness holder.
  6.  
  7. Install the bolts and tighten to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm).
  8.  
  9. Install the brake booster vacuum hose, the harness holder, the MAP sensor connector and the bolt. Tighten the bolt to 9 ft. lbs. (12 Nm).
  10.  
  11. Install the air cleaner assembly.
  12.  
  13. Install the engine cover.
  14.  
  15. After installation, check that all tubes, hoses, and connectors are installed correctly.
  16.  

3.0L Engines

Specific to:

Honda Accord 2007


NOTE
Make sure to acquire the anti-theft code from the radio and write down the frequencies for the radio-s preset buttons.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Drain the cooling system.
  4.  
  5. Remove the ignition coil cover. Remove the breather pipe and the air intake duct.
  6.  
  7. Remove the PCV valve hose, power brake booster hose, evaporative emission canister hose and the vacuum hose.
  8.  
  9. Remove the water bypass hoses. Remove the engine wire harness connectors and the wire harness clamps from the intake manifold.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect the intake air temperature sensor connector, throttle actuator connector and the manifold absolute sensor connector.
  12.  
  13. Disconnect the evaporative emission canister purge valve connector and the engine mount control solenoid valve connector.
  14.  
  15. Disconnect the intake manifold tuning runner control actuator connector, if equipped with manual transaxle.
  16.  
  17. Remove the upper cover mounting bolts sequentially in two or three steps and remove the upper cover.
  18.  
  19. Remove the intake manifold retaining bolts sequentially in two or three steps. Remove the intake manifold and spacer from the engine.
  20.  

To install:


NOTE
Use new gaskets when installing the intake manifold. Use new O-rings when installing manifold sensors and components. Use new sealing washers when reconnecting the fuel lines.

  1. Clean all gasket mating surfaces.
  2.  
  3. Torque the intake manifold retaining nuts to specification, sequentially in two or three steps.
  4.  
  5. Torque the upper cover retaining bolts to 8.7 ft. lbs. (12 Nm), sequentially in two or three steps.
  6.  
  7. Continue the installation in the reverse order of the removal procedure.
  8.  

3.5L Engine

Specific to:

Honda Accord 2008

  1. Remove the strut brace.
  2.  
  3. Remove the engine appearance cover.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor connector and the breather pipe, and remove the intake air duct.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the throttle actuator connector, the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) canister purge valve connector, the water bypass hoses, the EVAP hose, and the brake booster vacuum hose.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) hose; remove the upper cover mounting bolts and nuts sequentially in three steps, and then remove the upper cover.
  10.  
  11. Remove the intake manifold mounting bolts and nuts sequentially in three steps, and then remove the intake manifold.

To install:

  1. Install the intake manifold. Tighten the bolts and nuts sequentially in three steps to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm). Always use a new intake manifold gasket.

  3. Install the upper cover and tighten the bolts to 9 ft. lbs. (12 Nm).
  4.  
  5. The remainder of the installation is the reverse order of removal.
  6.  

Hybrid

Specific to:

Honda Civic 2007-2008

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Drain the engine cooling system.
  4.  
  5. Remove the engine appearance cover.
  6.  
  7. Remove the resonator.
  8.  
  9. Remove the intake air duct.
  10.  
  11. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
  12.  
  13. Remove the front grille cover.
  14.  
  15. Raise the vehicle on the lift.
  16.  
  17. Remove the front wheels.
  18.  
  19. Remove the front undercover and the splash shield.
  20.  
  21. Remove the intake manifold bracket bolts and the A/C compressor harness clamp.
  22.  
  23. Lower the vehicle on the lift.
  24.  
  25. Disconnect the water bypass hose and the vacuum hose, and the throttle actuator connector.
  26.  
  27. Disconnect the water bypass hose.
  28.  
  29. Disconnect the EGR valve connector, the intake manifold sub-harness connector, the clamp, and then remove the ground cables.
  30.  
  31. Disconnect the fuel injector connectors, rocker arm oil control valve connectors, rocker arm oil pressure sensor connector, and then remove the engine wire harness from the brackets.
  32.  
  33. Disconnect the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose.
  34.  
  35. Remove the intake manifold assembly.
  36.  

To install:

  1. Install the intake manifold assembly and tighten the bolts/nuts in a crisscross pattern in three steps, beginning with the inner bolt. Use a new gasket.

  3. The remainder of the installation is the reverse order of removal.
  4.  
  5. Refill the engine cooling system to the correct level.
  6.  

Non-hybrid
1.8L Engine

NOTE
Make sure to acquire the anti-theft code from the radio and write down the frequencies for the radio-s preset buttons.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Drain the cooling system.
  4.  
  5. Remove the cowl cover and the under cowl panel. Remove the air cleaner housing assembly. Remove the air intake duct.
  6.  
  7. Remove the injector cover. Remove the evaporative emission canister hose, power brake booster hose and the power steering pump hose clamp.
  8.  
  9. Remove the quick connect fitting cover. Disconnect the fuel feed hose.
  10.  
  11. Remove the engine wire harness connectors and the wire harness clamps from the intake manifold.
  12.  
  13. Disconnect the throttle actuator connector, the manifold absolute pressure connector, the evaporative emission control canister purge connector, and the intake manifold tuning valve actuator connector.
  14.  
  15. Remove the water bypass hoses. Remove the throttle body. Remove the heater hose clamp bracket.
  16.  
  17. Raise and safely support the vehicle. Remove the intake manifold bracket. Lower the vehicle.
  18.  
  19. Remove the intake manifold retaining bolts. Remove the intake manifold from the engine.
  20.  

To install:


NOTE
Use new gaskets when installing the intake manifold. Use new O-rings when installing manifold sensors and components. Use new sealing washers when reconnecting the fuel lines.

  1. Clean all gasket mating surfaces.
  2.  
  3. Torque the intake manifold retaining nuts to 17 ft. lbs. (24 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Continue the installation in the reverse order of the removal procedure.
  6.  

2.0L Engine

Specific to:

Honda Civic 2007-2008


NOTE
Make sure to acquire the anti-theft code from the radio and write down the frequencies for the radio-s preset buttons.

  1. Relieve the fuel system pressure.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4.  
  5. Drain the cooling system.
  6.  
  7. Remove the intake manifold cover. Remove the vacuum hose, breather pipe and the intake air duct.
  8.  
  9. Remove the engine wire harness connectors and the wire harness clamps from the intake manifold.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect the four fuel injector connectors, the manifold absolute pressure connector and the throttle connector.
  12.  
  13. Remove the ground cable, harness clamp bracket and the harness holder from its mounting. Remove the PCV valve hose, evaporative emission canister hose and the power brake booster vacuum hose.
  14.  
  15. Remove the water bypass hoses. Remove the quick connect fitting cover. Disconnect the fuel feed hose.
  16.  
  17. Raise and support the vehicle safely. Remove the intake manifold connector cover. Remove the intake manifold bracket. Lower the vehicle.
  18.  
  19. Remove the intake manifold retaining bolts. Remove the intake manifold from the vehicle.
  20.  

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure, while using the following torque values:
  2.  
  3. Torque the manifold retaining bolts and nut to specification in a crisscross pattern in two or three steps, beginning with the inner bolt.
