Specific to:

Honda Accord 2008

  1. Remove the headliner to access the moonroof motor. For additional information, refer to the following section, -Power Moonroof, Removal and Installation.-
  2.
  3. Disconnect the moonroof wiring harness and inspect for bent, loose or corroded terminals.
  4.
  5. With the connector still disconnected, check for continuity between the moonroof switch 14P connector terminal No. 11 and power window master switch 37P connector terminal No. 27. If there is no continuity, there is an open in the wire.
  6.
  7. With the connector still disconnected, check for continuity between the moonroof switch 14P connector terminal No. 11 and body ground. If there is continuity, there is a short to ground in the wire.
  8.
  9. Reconnect the connector to the control unit, and make these input tests at the connector. There should be battery voltage under the following conditions:

Terminals 7and 8 under all conditions

  10.
  11. There should be 0.5V or less under the following conditions:

Terminal 2 with the ignition switch ON and moonroof switch in the CLOSE position

Terminal 3 with the ignition switch ON and moonroof in the TILT position

Terminal 4 with the ignition switch ON and moonroof in the OPEN position

Terminal 9 with the ignition switch ON and moonroof in the AUTO OPEN or AUTO CLOSE position

  12.
  13. If the correct battery voltage is not detected, check for a blown fuse, faulty driver-s under-dash relay box, or an open wire.
  14.
  15. If all tests are successful, replace the moonroof motor assembly.
  16.

Specific to:

Honda Civic 2007-2008

  1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

  3. Remove the headliner to access the moonroof motor. For additional information, refer to the following section, -Power Moonroof, Removal and Installation.-
  4.
  5. Disconnect the moonroof wiring harness and inspect for bent, loose or corroded terminals.
  6.
  7. Measure the voltage to ground on the following terminals on the wiring harness. There should be battery voltage under the following conditions:

Terminals 1 and 10 under all conditions

Terminals 5 with the Ignition switch ON

Terminal 6 with the moonroof switch in the AUTO OPEN or AUTO CLOSE position

Terminal 7 with the moonroof switch in the TILT position

Terminal 8 with the moonroof switch in the CLOSE position

Terminal 9 with the moonroof switch in the OPEN position

  8.
  9. If battery voltage is not detected, check for an open in the wire, a blown fuse or a fault moonroof switch.
  10.
  11. Check the ECM/PCM Diagnostic Trouble Codes. If there is no DTC, jump the SCS line with the HDS, then disconnect ECM/PCM connector A (44P), and the moonroof control unit/motor 10P connector.
  12.
  13. Check for continuity between terminal 4 and the PCM connector terminal 29. If there is no continuity, there is an open in the wire.
  14.
  15. Check for no continuity between terminal 4 and body ground. If there is continuity, there is a short to ground in the wire.
  16.
  17. If all tests are successful, the moonroof motor assembly must be replaced.
