Removal & Installation



Specific to:

Honda Accord 2007-2008

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Remove and discard brake fluid from the master cylinder, as necessary.
  4.  
  5. Raise and support the vehicle safely. Remove the front tires.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect and plug the brake line hose.
  8.  
  9. Remove the brake hose bracket mounting bolt.
  10.  
  11. Remove the caliper flange bolts.
  12.  
  13. Remove the brake pads and shims.
  14.  
  15. Remove the pad retainers and check the caliper pins for free movement.

To install:

  1. Apply a thin coat of M-77 assembly paste part number o8798-9010 to the brake pad sides of the pad shims and the back of the brake pads, wipe excess paste off the shim.
  2.  
  3. Continue the installation in the reverse order of the removal procedure.
  4.  
  5. Check and refill the master cylinder, as necessary.
  6.  
  7. Road test the vehicle.
  8.  

Specific to:

Honda Civic 2007-2008

  1. Remove and discard brake fluid from the master cylinder, as necessary.
  2.  
  3. Raise and support the vehicle safely. Remove the front tires.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect and plug the brake line hose.
  6.  
  7. On 2004-05 Hatchback, remove the brake hose bracket mounting bolt.
  8.  
  9. Remove the caliper flange bolts.
  10.  
  11. Remove the brake pads and shims.
  12.  
  13. Remove the pad retainers and check the caliper pins for free movement.

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  2.  
  3. Apply a thin coat of M-77 assembly paste part number o8798-9010 to the brake pad sides of the pad shims and the back of the brake pads, wipe excess paste off the shim.

  5. Check and refill the master cylinder, as necessary.
  6.  
  7. Road test the vehicle.

Specific to:

Honda S2000 2007-2008

  1. Remove and discard brake fluid from the master cylinder, as necessary.
  2.  
  3. Raise and support the vehicle safely. Remove the front tires.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect and plug the brake line hose.
  6.  
  7. Remove the brake hose bracket mounting bolt.
  8.  
  9. Remove the caliper flange bolts.
  10.  
  11. Remove the brake pads and shims.
  12.  
  13. Remove the pad retainers and check the caliper pins for free movement.

To install:

Specific to:

Honda Fit 2007-2008

  1. Remove the wheel nuts and front wheel.
  2.  
  3. Remove the brake hose mounting bolt.
  4.  
  5. Remove the brake caliper bracket mounting bolts, and remove the caliper assembly from the knuckle.
  6.  
  7. Detach the brake caliper from the brake hose, if the caliper is being replaced.
  8.  
  9. If the caliper is not being replaced, it can be moved out of the way and suspended with wire, so the hose is not under strain.
    WARNING
    To prevent damage to the caliper assembly or brake hose, use a short piece of wire to hang the caliper assembly from the undercarriage. Do not twist the brake hose excessively.

  10.  

To install:

  1. Position the caliper in place.
  2.  
  3. If removed, reattach the brake line to the caliper.
  4.  
  5. Install and tighten the caliper mounting bolts to 80 ft. lbs. (108 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Install the brake hose clip retaining bolt.
  8.  
  9. If the brake hose was removed from the caliper, the system, perform -Brake Bleeding- in this section.
  10.
