Removal & Installation



Specific to:

Honda Accord 2007

  1. Raise and support the vehicle safely.
  2.  
  3. Remove the front tires.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the stabilizer links from the stabilizer bar on the right and left sides.
  6.  
  7. Remove the front suspension subframe from the body.

  9. Remove the flange bolts and bushing holders. Remove the bushings and the stabilizer bar from the vehicle.
  10.  

To install:

  1. Position the assembly to its mounting on the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Install the mounting bolts.
  4.  
  5. Continue the installation in the reverse order of the removal procedure.
  6.  

Specific to:

Honda Accord 2008

  1. Remove the hood support rod, and then use it as shown to prop the hood in the wide-open position.
  2.  
  3. Remove the front grille cover.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the battery cables.
  6.  
  7. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  8.  
  9. Remove the front wheels.
  10.  
  11. Remove the driver-s airbag.
  12.  
  13. Remove the steering wheel.
  14.  
  15. Remove the steering joint cover.
  16.  
  17. Loosen the steering joint upper bolt, remove the steering joint lower bolt, then disconnect the steering joint from the pinion shaft.
  18.  
  19. Disconnect the power steering pressure (PSP) switch connector.
  20.  
  21. Remove the power steering pump outlet hose mounting bolt.
  22.  
  23. Remove the front strut brace.
  24.  
  25. Remove the connector bracket from the front cylinder head; use the bracket bolt hole to attach the engine hanger balance bar front arm.
  26.  
  27. Remove the harness clamp bracket from the rear cylinder head; use the bracket bolt hole to attach the 2008 attachment arm Special Tool.
  28.  
  29. Support the engine with a suitable engine support hanger. For additional information, refer the following section, -Engine Assembly, Removal and Installation.-
  30.  
  31. Remove the rear engine mount stop, if equipped with automatic transmission.
  32.  
  33. Remove the engine mount bolt from the rear engine mount and the rear engine mount bracket.
  34.  
  35. Remove the front splash shield.
  36.  
  37. Remove the nuts securing the lower transmission mount.
  38.  
  39. Remove the exhaust pipe A hanger from the front subframe.
  40.  
  41. Attach the front subframe adapter (VSB02C000016) to the subframe, hang the belt of the subframe adapter over the front of the subframe, then secure the belt with its stop.
  42.  
  43. Raise the jack, line up the slots in the front subframe adapter arms with the bolt holes on the jack base, then securely attach them with four bolts.
  44.  
  45. Remove the front subframe mounting bolts on both sides of the middle mount.
  46.  
  47. Disconnect both sides of the stabilizer link from the stabilizer bar.
  48.  
  49. Remove the flange bolts on both sides of the front subframe front bracket.
  50.  
  51. Loosen the front side of the front subframe mounting bolts until there is 20 mm ( 13 / 16 in.) distance between the bolt seat and the mounting surface. Do not loosen the mounting bolts more than necessary.

  53. Remove the flange bolts on both sides of the front subframe rear bracket.
  54.  
  55. Loose the rear side of the front subframe mounting bolts until there is 30 mm (1 3 / 16 in.) distance between the bolt seat and the mounting surface. Do not loosen the mounting bolts more than necessary.
  56.  
  57. Lower the transmission jack with the front subframe adapter slowly until the front subframe has dropped about 30 mm (1 3 / 16 in.).
  58.  
  59. Remove the flange bolts and the bushing holders, and then remove the bushings.
  60.  
  61. Move the stabilizer bar toward the passenger's side, and remove the stabilizer bar.
  62.  

To install:

  1. Install the stabilizer bar.
  2.  
  3. Align the front subframe using the subframe alignment pin. Vertically install the subframe alignment pin, and align the right-rear corner of the front subframe and vehicle frame holes, and then loosely tighten the new subframe mounting bolt until the front subframe contacts the body frame.
  4.  
  5. Loosely tighten the left-rear subframe mounting bolt using the same procedure as the right-rear with the subframe alignment pin.
  6.  
  7. Loosely install the new 12 mm flange bolts to the subframe rear bracket.
  8.  
  9. Torque the subframe mounting bolts to the specified torque values starting with the right-rear bolt. Use the subframe alignment pin when tightening the rear side bolts.
  10.  
  11. Check all of the front subframe mounting bolts, and retighten if necessary.

  13. The remainder of the installation is the reverse order of removal.
  14.  
  15. Check and adjust the wheel alignment as necessary.

Specific to:

Honda Civic 2007-2008

  1. Raise and support the vehicle safely. Remove the front tires.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect both stabilizer links from the stabilizer bar.
  4.  
  5. Remove the flange bolts and the bushing holders. Remove the bushings and the stabilizer bar from the front suspension subframe.
  6.  

To install:

  1. Position the assembly to its mounting on the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Install the mounting bolts.
  4.  
  5. Continue the installation in the reverse order of the removal procedure.
  6.  

Specific to:

Honda S2000 2007-2008

  1. Raise and support the vehicle safely.
  2.  
  3. Remove the front tires.
  4.  
  5. Remove the splash shield.
  6.  
  7. Remove the self locking nuts while holding the joint pin. Disconnect the stabilizer links from the stabilizer bar on the right and left sides.
  8.  
  9. Remove the flange bolts and bushing holders. Remove the bushings and the stabilizer bar from the vehicle.
  10.  

To install:

  1. Position the assembly to its mounting on the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Install the mounting bolts.
  4.  
  5. Continue the installation in the reverse order of the removal procedure.
  6.  

Specific to:

Honda Fit 2007-2008

  1. Raise the front of the vehicle, and support it with safety stands in the proper locations.
  2.  
  3. Remove the front wheels.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect both stabilizer links from the stabilizer bar.
  6.  
  7. Remove the front subframe from the body.
  8.  
  9. Remove the flange bolts and the bushing holders, then remove the bushings and the stabilizer bar (D) from the front subframe.

To install:

  1. Install the stabilizer bar in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
    1. Note the right and left direction of the stabilizer bar.
    2.  
    3. Tighten the stabilizer bar bracket bolts to 25 ft. lbs. (34 Nm).
    4.  
    5. Align the paint marks (F) on the stabilizer bar with the sides of the bushings.
    6.  
    7. Note the fore/aft direction of the bushing.
    8.  
    9. Refer to -Stabilizer Link- to connect the stabilizer bar to the links.
    10.  
    11. Check the wheel alignment, and adjust it if necessary.
