Specific to:

Honda Accord 2007

  1. Properly relieve the fuel system pressure.
  2.  
  3. Drain the fuel tank using a hand pump suitable for fuel.
  4.  
  5. Loosen the rear wheel nuts slightly, and then raise and safely support the vehicle.
  6.  
  7. Remove the rear wheels.
  8.  
  9. Release the parking brake.
  10.  
  11. SULEV models: Remove the tank covers.
  12.  
  13. Remove the exhaust muffler.
  14.  
  15. Non-SULEV models: Disconnect the fuel fill neck tube and breather hose.
  16.  
  17. SULEV models: Disconnect the fuel fill neck tube, fuel tank vapor recirculation tube, and fuel tank vapor signal tube.
  18.  
  19. Disconnect the vapor line from the EVAP canister. Then disconnect the fuel line.
  20.  
  21. Disconnect the wheel speed sensor electrical connector.
  22.  
  23. If equipped with rear disc brakes, remove the caliper assembly and hang securely from the coil spring.
  24.  
  25. If equipped with rear drum brakes, disconnect the brake line and the brake hose clip.
  26.  
  27. Remove the bolts from the brake plate.
  28.  
  29. Remove the parking brake cable.
  30.  
  31. Remove the lower strut mounting bolt.
  32.  
  33. Remove the parking brake cable bracket.
  34.  
  35. Remove the heat shield.
  36.  
  37. Place a suitable jack or support under the suspension subframe. Remove the mounting bolts. Remove the rear suspension subframe.
  38.  
  39. Remove the fuel tank mounting bolts and the fuel tank straps.
  40.  
  41. Lift the fuel tank out of the subframe.

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse order of assembly. Tighten the fuel tank mounting strap bolts to 28 ft. lbs. (38 Nm).
  2.  
  3. If equipped with rear drum brakes, bleed the brake system.
  4.  
  5. Check and adjust the rear wheel alignment as necessary.
  6.  

Specific to:

Honda Accord 2008

  1. Properly relieve the fuel system pressure.
  2.  
  3. Remove the fuel pump assembly and drain the fuel tank using a hand pump suitable for fuel.
  4.  
  5. Reinstall the fuel pump assembly without connecting the fuel tank unit 4P connector and the quick-connect fitting.
  6.  
  7. Remove the fuel fill pipe cover.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the quick-connect fittings (and on all models except PZEV, disconnect the fuel fill tube from the fuel fill pipe).
  10.  
  11. Slide back the clamps, and then twist the hose as you pull to avoid damaging them.
  12.  
  13. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  14.  
  15. Disconnect the hose from the EVAP canister.
  16.  
  17. Remove the hose from the clamp.
  18.  
  19. Remove the exhaust pipe.
  20.  
  21. Remove the right side middle floor undercover.
  22.  
  23. Remove the fuel tank protector.
  24.  
  25. Remove the right parking brake cable mounting bolts.
  26.  
  27. Place a suitable jack or other support under the fuel tank.
  28.  
  29. Remove the strap bolts and the straps.
  30.  
  31. Remove the fuel tank.
  32.  

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse order of removal. Tighten the fuel tank mounting strap bolts to 28 ft. lbs. (38 Nm).
  2.  

Specific to:

Honda Civic 2007-2008

  1. Properly relieve the fuel system pressure.
  2.  
  3. Drain the fuel tank, and then disconnect the fuel tank unit 4P connector and the quick-connect fitting.
  4.  
  5. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  6.  
  7. Remove the cover, and the EVAP canister guard pipe.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the fuel fill tube. Slide back the clamps, and then twist the hoses as you pull to avoid damaging them.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect the quick-connect fitting and the fuel tank vapor recirculation tube.
  12.  
  13. Place a suitable jack or other support under the fuel tank and secure the tank with a winch strap.
  14.  
  15. Remove the strap bolts and the strap.
  16.  
  17. Remove the fuel tank.
  18.  

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse order of removal. Tighten the fuel tank mounting strap bolts to 28 ft. lbs. (38 Nm).

Specific to:

Honda Fit 2007-2008

  1. Relieve the fuel pressure.
  2.  
  3. Drain the fuel tank, then disconnect the fuel tank unit 4-pin connector and the quick-connect fittings from the fuel tank unit.
  4.  
  5. Lift the vehicle, and support it with jack stands.
  6.  
  7. Remove the floor center crossmember stiffener, fuel tank cover, front floor cross beam, and tank mount bracket.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the fuel fill hose, fuel suction tube, and fuel tank vapor control valve hose.
  10.  
  11. Place a jack or other support under the fuel tank, then remove the strap bolts.
  12.  
  13. Remove the fuel tank.

To install:

  1. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal. Note the tightening specifications as shown.
