Fuel Rail (Supply Manifold) & Injectors

Removal & Installation



  1. Properly relieve the fuel system pressure.
  2.  
  3. Remove the fuel rail cover.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the injector connectors from the injectors, and then remove the harness holder from the fuel rail.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the quick-connect fitting from the fuel rail.
  8.  
  9. Remove the retainer nuts and the bolts from the fuel rail.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect the fuel rail from the intake manifold.
  12.  
  13. Remove the injector clips from the fuel rail.
  14.  
  15. Remove the injectors from the fuel rail.
  16.  
  17. Remove the O-rings from the injectors.
  18.  

To install:

  1. Coat new O-rings with clean engine oil, and put them on the injectors.
  2.  
  3. Insert the injectors into the fuel rail.
  4.  
  5. Install the injector clips.
  6.  
  7. Install the injectors in the intake manifold.
  8.  
  9. Install and tighten the retainer nuts and bolts.
  10.  
  11. Connect the quick-connect fitting.
  12.  
  13. Connect the injector connectors and the harness holder.
  14.  
  15. Install the injector cover.
  16.  
  17. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), but do not operate the starter. After the fuel pump runs for about 2 seconds, the fuel pressure in the fuel line rises. Repeat this 2 or 3 times, and then check for fuel leakage.

2.4L Engine

Specific to:

Honda Accord 2007-2008

  1. Properly relieve the fuel system pressure.
  2.  
  3. Remove the engine appearance cover.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the connectors from the injectors. On A/T models, disconnect the engine mount control solenoid valve.
  6.  
  7. Remove the ground cable bolt (G101).
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the quick-connect fittings.
  10.  
  11. Remove the fuel rail mounting nuts from the fuel rail.
  12.  
  13. Remove the injector clip from the injector.
  14.  
  15. Remove the injector from the fuel rail.
  16.  

To install:

  1. Coat the new O-rings with clean engine oil, and insert the injectors into the fuel rail.
  2.  
  3. Install the injector clip.
  4.  
  5. Coat the injector O-rings with clean engine oil.
  6.  
  7. Install the injectors into the injector base.
  8.  
  9. Install the fuel rail mounting nuts and the ground cable bolt (G101).
  10.  
  11. Connect the connectors on the injectors. On A/T models, connect the engine mount control solenoid valve.
  12.  
  13. Connect the quick-connect fittings.
  14.  
  15. Turn the ignition switch ON (II), but do not operate the starter. After the fuel pump runs for about 2 seconds, the fuel rail will be pressurized. Repeat this two or three times, and then check for fuel leakage.

3.0L & 3.5L Engines

Specific to:

Honda Accord 2007-2008

  1. Properly relieve the fuel system pressure.
  2.  
  3. Remove the intake manifold.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the connectors from the injectors.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the quick-connect fittings.
  8.  
  9. Remove the fuel rail mounting bolts from the fuel rail.
  10.  
  11. Remove the injector clip from the injector.
  12.  
  13. Remove the injector from the fuel rail.
  14.  

To install:

  1. Coat the new O-rings with clean engine oil, and insert the injectors into the fuel rail.
  2.  
  3. Install the injector clip.
  4.  
  5. Coat the injector O-rings with clean engine oil.
  6.  
  7. Install the injectors in the injector base.
  8.  
  9. Install the fuel rail mounting nuts.
  10.  
  11. Connect the connectors on the injectors.
  12.  
  13. Connect the quick-connect fittings.
  14.  
  15. Turn the ignition switch ON (II), but do not operate the starter. After the fuel pump runs for about 2 seconds, the fuel rail will be pressurized. Repeat this two or three times, and then check for fuel leakage.
  16.  

Hybrid

Specific to:

Honda Civic 2007-2008

  1. Properly relieve the fuel system pressure.
  2.  
  3. Remove the air intake assembly.
  4.  
  5. Remove the mounting nut and bolt.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the connectors from the injectors, the intake side ignition coils, the EGR valve, the rocker arm oil control valve, the rocker arm oil pressure sensor, the MAP sensor, and the rocker arm oil pressure switch.
  8.  
  9. Remove the ground terminals.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect the hoses from the fuel rail.
  12.  
  13. Remove the fuel rail mounting nuts from the fuel rail, and then remove the injectors and fuel rail together.
  14.  
  15. Remove the injector clips from the injectors.
  16.  
  17. Remove the injectors from the fuel rail.
  18.  

To install:

  1. Coat the new O-ring with clean engine oil, and insert the injectors into the fuel rail.
  2.  
  3. Install the injector clips.
  4.  
  5. Coat the injector O-rings with clean engine oil.
  6.  
  7. Install the injectors into the injector base.
  8.  
  9. Install the fuel rail mounting nuts and the bolt.
  10.  
  11. Install the nut with a new O-ring.
  12.  
  13. Reconnect the fuel hoses.
  14.  
  15. Connect the ground terminal.
  16.  
  17. Connect the connectors on the injectors, the intake side ignition coils, the EGR valve, the rocker arm oil control valve, the rocker arm oil pressure sensor, the MAP sensor, and the rocker arm oil pressure switch.
  18.  

Non-hybrid
1.8L Engine

Specific to:

Honda Civic 2007-2008

  1. Properly relieve the fuel system pressure.
  2.  
  3. Remove the cowl cover and the under-cowl panel.
  4.  
  5. Remove the fuel line cover.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the injector connectors from the injectors and the rocker arm oil control valve connector.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the quick-connect fitting.
  10.  
  11. Remove the fuel rail mounting nuts from the fuel rail.
  12.  
  13. Remove the injector clips from the injectors.
  14.  
  15. Remove the injectors from the fuel rail.
  16.  

To install:

  1. Coat the new O-rings with clean engine oil, and insert the injectors into the fuel rail.
  2.  
  3. Install the injector clips.
  4.  
  5. Coat the new injector O-rings with clean engine oil.
  6.  
  7. Install the fuel rail and the injectors into the cylinder head.
  8.  
  9. Install the fuel rail mounting nuts.
  10.  
  11. Connect the connectors on the injectors.
  12.  
  13. Connect the quick-connect fittings.
  14.  
  15. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), but do not operate the starter. After the fuel pump runs for about 2 seconds, the fuel rail is pressurized. Repeat this two or three times, and then check for fuel leakage.

  17. Install the fuel line cover.
  18.  
  19. Install the cowl cover and the under-cowl panel.
  20.  

2.0L Engine

Specific to:

Honda Civic 2007-2008

  1. Properly relieve the fuel system pressure.
  2.  
  3. Remove the engine appearance cover.

  5. Disconnect the connectors from the injectors
  6.  
  7. Remove the ground cable bolt (G101).
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the quick-connect fittings.
  10.  
  11. Remove the fuel rail mounting nuts from the fuel rail.
  12.  
  13. Remove the injector clip from the injector.
  14.  
  15. Remove the injector from the fuel rail.
  16.  

To install:

  1. Coat the new O-rings with clean engine oil, and insert the injectors into the fuel rail.
  2.  
  3. Install the injector clip.
  4.  
  5. Coat the injector O-rings with clean engine oil.
  6.  
  7. Install the injectors into the injector base.
  8.  
  9. Install the fuel rail mounting nuts and the ground cable bolt (G101).
  10.  
  11. Connect the connectors on the injectors.
  12.  
  13. Connect the quick-connect fittings.
  14.  
  15. Turn the ignition switch ON (II), but do not operate the starter. After the fuel pump runs for about 2 seconds, the fuel rail will be pressurized. Repeat this two or three times, and then check for fuel leakage.
