Power Door Locks



Diagnosis & Testing
  1. Remove the door panel to access the door lock motor. For additional information, refer to the following section, -Power Door Lock, Door Lock Motor, Removal and Installation.-
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the door lock motor wiring harness.
  4.  
  5. Check actuator operation by connecting power and ground according to the table. To prevent damage to the actuator, apply battery voltage only momentarily.
  6.  
  7. If the actuator does not operate as specified, replace it.

Master Door Lock Switch
  1. With the door panel removed, disconnect the 2-pin connector from the door lock actuator.
  2.  
  3. Check actuator operation by connecting power and ground according to the table. To prevent damage to the actuator, apply battery voltage only momentarily.
  4.  
  5. If the actuator does not operate as specified, replace it.

Removal & Installation
Door Lock Motor

NOTE
This procedure requires the use of KTC Trim Tool Set SOJATP2014 and Trim pad remover, Snap-on® A 177A or equivalent, commercially available tools. Take care not to scratch the door panel and door. Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when prying components.

  1. Remove the door panel in the numbered sequence shown in the accompanying illustration. Remove the door panel with as little bending as possible to avoid creasing or breaking it.

  3. Detach the electrical connector, and then remove the door lock actuator.
  4.  

To install:

  1. Install the door lock actuator and attach the electrical connector.
  2.  
  3. Install the panel in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
    1. Check for damaged or stress-whitened clips, and replace them with new ones.
    2.  
    3. Make sure the connectors are plugged in properly.
    4.  
    5. Push the clips into place securely.
    6.  
    7. Check the window and power door lock operations.
    8.

2-Door Models

Specific to:

Honda Civic 2007-2008


NOTE
This procedure requires the use of KTC trim tool set SOJATP2014 and Trim pad remover, Snap-on® A 177A or equivalent, commercially available trim panel removal tools.


NOTE
Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when prying components.

  1. Lower the window glass fully.
  2.  
  3. If equipped with manual windows: remove the regulator handle (A) by pulling the clip (B) out with a wire hook (C).

  5. Remove the inner handle (A), being careful not to scratch the door panel, as follows:
    1. Pry out on the upper portion of the cover (B) to release the hooks (C, D), and then remove the cover.
    2.  
    3. Remove the screws.
    4.  
    5. Pull the inner handle forward and out half-way to release the hook (E).
    6.  
    7. Disconnect the inner handle rod (F) and power door lock switch connector (G) (driver's side for some models).

  7. Remove the switch panel (A) (power window model) or the pull pocket (B) (manual window model), as follows:
    1. Using a trim tool, pry the cap (C) and remove the screw (D).
    2.  
    3. Pry out the panel or pocket to release the clips (E).
    4.  
    5. Release the clip (F) by pulling the cover or pocket forward.
    6.  
    7. Power window model: Disconnect the power window switch connector (G).

  9. Remove the screws (H) securing the door panel.
  10.  
  11. Remove the mirror mount cover, as follows:
    1. Make sure the door glass is fully lowered.
    2.  
    3. Carefully pry out the mirror mount cover (A) by hand in the sequence shown.

  13. Release the clips that hold the door panel (A) with a commercially available trim pad remover (B), then remove the door panel by pulling it upward. Remove the door panel with as little bending as possible to avoid creasing or breaking it.

  15. Detach the connector, and then remove the door lock motor.
  16.  

To install:

  1. Install the door lock motor and attach the electrical connector.
  2.  
  3. Install the door panel in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
    1. Replace any damaged clips.
    2.  
    3. Make sure the connectors are plugged in properly, and the rod is connected properly.
    4.  
    5. Make sure the window and power door locks operate properly.
    6.  
    7. If equipped with manual windows, install the regulator handle so it points forward and up at a 45° angle with the glass fully closed.

4-Door Models

Specific to:

Honda Civic 2007-2008


NOTE

  5. Remove the inner handle (A), being careful not the scratch the door panel, as follows:
    1. Pry out on the upper portion of the cover (B) to release the hooks (C, D), and then remove the cover.
    2.  
    3. Remove the screws.
    4.  
    5. Pull the inner handle forward and out half-way to release the hook (E).
    6.  
    7. Disconnect the inner handle rod (F) and power door lock switch connector (G).

  7. Remove the grip cover (A), as follows:
    1. Using a trim tool, pry out the front edge of the cover to release the clips (B).
    2.  
    3. Pry out along the bottom to release the lower hooks (C).
    4.  
    5. Pry out along the top to release the upper hooks (D), and release the clip (E) by pulling the cover forward.

  9. For the driver's door: Disconnect the power window switch connector (A) (for some models). Remove the screws from the grip base (B).

  11. Remove the mirror mount cover, as follows:
    1. Make sure the door glass is fully lowered.
    2.  
    3. Carefully pry out the mirror mount cover (A) by hand in the sequence shown.

  13. Release the clips that hold the door panel (A) with a commercially available trim pad remover (B), and then remove the door panel by pulling it upward. Passenger's door: Disconnect the power window switch connector (for some models). Remove the door panel with as little bending as possible to avoid creasing or breaking it.

  15. Detach the connector, and then remove the door lock motor.

To install:

  1. Install the door lock motor and attach the electrical connector.
  2.  
  3. Install the door panel in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
    1. Replace any damaged clips.

    3. Make sure the connectors are plugged in properly, and the rod is connected properly.
    4.  
    5. Make sure the window and power door locks operate properly.

Coupe

Specific to:

Honda Accord 2007


NOTE
This procedure requires the use of KTC trim tool set SOJATP2014 and Trim pad remover, Snap-on® A 177A or equivalent, commercially available, or equivalent trim tools. Make sure to use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when prying components.

  1. Lower the glass fully.
  2.  
  3. Using a trim tool, pry out on the lower portion of the cover to release the hooks, then remove the cover and the screws.

  5. Remove the power window switch panel, as follows:
    1. Insert a flat-tip screwdriver wrapped with protective tape through the hole under the armrest, and push up the bottom of the power window switch to release the pane.
    2.  
    3. Pull out along the edge of the panel to release the hook and clips.
    4.  
    5. Disconnect the power mirror switch connector (drivers) and the power window switch connector.
    6.

  7. Remove the screws from under the armrest.

  9. Remove the mirror mount cover, as follows:
    1. Carefully pry out the mirror mount cover by hand in the sequence shown.

  11. Remove the door panel with as little bending as possible to avoid creasing or breaking it, as follows:
    1. Start at the bottom edge of the door panel, release the clips that are just above the marks on the edge of the panel with a commercially available trim pad remover.
    2.  
    3. Detach the upper clips.
    4.  
    5. Starting at the rear, pull the door panel upward and over the lock knob.
      NOTE
      The inner handle cable and the courtesy light bulb socket are connected to the door panel. Do not pull the door panel up too far, or the inner handle cable will be damaged.

  13. While holding the door panel away from the door, disconnect the inner handle cable and courtesy light bulb socket, detach the harness clip from the panel, and remove the panel.

  15. If necessary, remove the door glass inner weatherstrip from the door panel by pulling it down.

  17. Disconnect the electrical connector, and then remove the door lock actuator.

To install:

  1. Install the door lock actuator and attach the electrical connector.
  2.  
  3. Install the panel in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
    1. Check if the clip is damaged or stress-whitened, and if necessary, replace it with new one.
    2.  
    3. Make sure the connectors are plugged in properly, and the cable and the bulb socket are connected properly.
    4.  
    5. Make sure the window and power door lock operate properly.
    6.  
    7. When reinstalling the door panel, make sure the plastic cover is installed properly and sealed around its outside perimeter to seal out water.
    8.  
    9. Check for water leaks.
      NOTE
      Reset the power window control unit using one of the two following procedures.

  5. Resetting the power window control unit with an HDS:
    1. Connect the Honda Diagnostic System (HDS) to the vehicle's DLC.
    2.  
    3. Turn the ignition switch ON (II), then enter the vehicle's VIN and mileage at the prompts.
    4.  
    5. Select Body Electrical from the System Selection menu.
    6.  
    7. From the Body Electrical System Select menu, select Power Windows.
    8.  
    9. From the Mode menu, select Adjustments.
    10.  
    11. From the Adjustment menu, select Window P Reset.
    12.  
    13. Follow the prompts on the screen.
    14.  
    15. Confirm that the power window master switch is reset by using the driver's window AUTO UP and DOWN function.
    16.

  7. Resetting the power window control unit without an HDS:
    1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
    2.  
    3. Move the driver's window all the way down by using the driver's window DOWN switch.
    4.  
    5. Open the driver's door.
      NOTE
      Steps d-g must be done within 5 seconds of each other.

    6.  
    7. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
    8.  
    9. Push and hold the driver's window DOWN switch.
    10.  
    11. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
    12.  
    13. Release the driver's window DOWN switch.
    14.  
    15. Repeat steps d-g three more times.
    16.  
    17. Wait 1 second.
    18.  
    19. Confirm that AUTO UP and AUTO DOWN do not work. If AUTO UP and DOWN work, go back to step a.
    20.  
    21. Move the driver's window all the way down by holding the driver's window DOWN switch to the AUTO DOWN position.
    22.  
    23. Pull up and hold the driver's window UP switch to the AUTO UP position until the window reaches the fully closed position, then continue to hold the switch for 1 second.
    24.  
    25. Confirm that the power window master switch is reset by using the driver's window AUTO UP and DOWN function.
    26.  
    27. If the window still does not work in AUTO, repeat the procedure several times, paying close attention to the 5 second time limit between steps.
    28.

  9. Enter the anti-theft codes for the audio and the navigation system, and then enter the audio presets.
  10.  

Sedan

Specific to:

Honda Accord 2007


NOTE
This procedure requires the use of KTC trim tool set SOJATP2014 and Trim pad remover, Snap-on® A 177A or equivalent, commercially available, or equivalent trim tools. Make sure to use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when prying components.

  1. Lower the glass fully.
  2.  
  3. Using a trim tool, pry out on the rear portion of the cover to release the hooks, then remove the cover and the screws securing the inner handle.

  5. Remove the power window switch panel as follows:
    1. Pry up on the rear edge of the switch panel with a trim tool to release the rear clip.
    2.  
    3. Pull out along the edge of the panel to release the hooks and front clip.
    4.  
    5. Disconnect the power mirror switch connector (driver's) and the power window switch connector.

  7. Remove the screw from under the pull pocket cap.
  8.  
  9. Remove the mirror mount cover, as follows:
    1. Carefully pry out the mirror mount cover by hand in the sequence shown.

  11. Remove the door panel with as little bending as possible to avoid creasing or breaking it, as follows:
    1. Start at the bottom edge of the door panel, release the clips that are just above the marks on the edge of the panel with a commercially available trim pad remover.

    5. Starting at the rear, pull the door panel upward and over the lock knob.
      NOTE
      The inner handle cable and the courtesy light bulb socket are connected to the door panel. Do not pull the door panel up too far, or the inner handle cable will be damaged.

  13. While holding the door panel away from the door, disconnect the inner handle cable, and if equipped, courtesy light bulb socket, and detach the harness clip, then remove the panel. If necessary, remove the inner handle by releasing the hooks.

  15. If necessary, remove the door glass inner weatherstrip from the door panel by pulling it down.

  17. Disconnect the electrical connector, and then remove the door lock actuator.

To install:

  1. Install the door lock actuator and attach the electrical connector.
  2.  
  3. Install the panel in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
    1. Check if the clip is damaged or stress-whitened, and if necessary, replace it with new one.
    2.  
    3. Make sure the connectors are plugged in properly, and the cable and the bulb socket are connected properly.
    4.  
    5. Make sure the window and power door lock operate properly.
    6.  
    7. When reinstalling the door panel, make sure the plastic cover is installed properly and sealed around its outside perimeter to seal out water.
    8.  
    9. Check for water leaks.
      NOTE

    5. Open the driver's door.
      NOTE

    9. Push and hold the driver's window DOWN switch.

    11. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
    12.  
    13. Release the driver's window DOWN switch.
    14.  
    15. Repeat steps d-g three more times.

    17. Wait 1 second.
    18.  
    19. Confirm that AUTO UP and AUTO DOWN do not work. If AUTO UP and DOWN work, go back to step a.
    20.  
    21. Move the driver's window all the way down by holding the driver's window DOWN switch to the AUTO DOWN position.
    22.  
    23. Pull up and hold the driver's window UP switch to the AUTO UP position until the window reaches the fully closed position, and continue to hold the switch for 1 second.
    24.  
    25. Confirm that the power window master switch is reset by using the driver's window AUTO UP and DOWN function.
    26.  
    27. If the window still does not work in AUTO, repeat the procedure several times, paying close attention to the 5 second time limit between steps.
    28.

  9. Enter the anti-theft codes for the audio and the navigation system, and then enter the audio presets.

Door Lock Switch
2007 Accord Models

Specific to:

Honda Accord 2007

  1. Insert a flat-tip screwdriver wrapped with protective tape through the hole under the armrest, and push up the bottom of the power window switch to release the panel.

  3. Pull out along the edge of the panel to release the hook and clips.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the power mirror switch connector (driver's) and the power window switch connector.

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse order of removal.

Civic Models

Specific to:
