Removal & Installation



Specific to:

Honda Accord 2007-2008

  1. Remove and discard brake fluid from the master cylinder, as necessary.
  2.  
  3. Raise and support the vehicle safely. Remove the rear tires. Release the parking brake.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect and plug the brake line hose.
  6.  
  7. Remove the caliper bolts. Remove the caliper from the caliper bracket.
  8.  
  9. Remove the pad shims and brake pads.
  10.  
  11. Remove the pad retainers and check the caliper pins for free movement.
  12.  

To install:

  1. Apply a thin coat of M-77 assembly paste part number o8798-9010 to the brake pad sides of the pad shims and the back of the brake pads, wipe excess paste off the shim.
  2.  
  3. Install the brake pads and shims.
  4.  
  5. Rotate the caliper piston clockwise into the cylinder. Align the cutout in the piston with the tab on the inner pad by turning the piston back so the caliper can be installed on the brake pad. Lubricate the boot with rubber grease to avoid twisting the piston boot.
  6.  
  7. Continue the installation in the reverse order of the removal procedure.
  8.  
  9. After installation depress the brake pedal several times to be sure the brake works. Road test the vehicle.
    NOTE
    Engagement of the brake may require a greater pedal stroke effort immediately after the brake pads have been replaced as a set.

  11. Check the parking brake adjustment.
  12.  
  13. Check and refill the master cylinder, as necessary.
  14.  

Specific to:

Honda Civic 2007-2008

  1. Remove and discard brake fluid from the master cylinder, as necessary.
  2.  
  3. Raise and support the vehicle safely. Remove the rear tires.
  4.  
  5. Remove the bolt and brake hose from the mounting bracket.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect and plug the brake line hose.
  8.  
  9. Remove the caliper bolts. Remove the caliper from the caliper bracket.
  10.  
  11. Remove the pad shims and brake pads.
  12.  
  13. Remove the pad retainers and check the caliper pins for free movement.
  14.  

To install:
